All I'm asking for is contribution. It doesn't mean 200 yards and a multi-TD game. Scheme something up to get a few receptions to these guys and see what they can do. Especially if Ladd is out, we're going to have to find ways to move the ball.

I still want to see what happens if we just keep it close and pound it 15-20 times with Gus. He's fresh at this point in the year. Use him.
    I thought Rice was redshirted....oops...on IR...(wink)...

If not? Yea...why not...we in a bind, and he aint gonna learn any younger...
    Lone Bolt's Final Mock

Tyler Booker G, Josaiah Stewart Edge, Cam Skattebo RB, Mitchell Evans TE, Jamaree Caldwell NT, Isaac TeSlaa WR, Ahmed Hassanein DE, Craig Woodson S, Eli Cox C, Kalel Mullings RB

Sleeper day 3 pick: Tahj Brooks RB Texas Tech

      A one-kneed, one-shouldered Ladd is worth a dozen QJ’s.

It’s one thing to expect the Great Pumpkin to actually show up, but it’s quite another to expect him to find your pumpkin patch as the most sincere and start handing out presents.

I’m not holding my breath for Chark to even suit up.

So if he got snaps it's either take out the big guys and be lighter or stay heavy and sub out Johnston or Palmer more often or Ladd, but those big WR also block better than Davis. So.....that leaves him as the PR specialist and backup speedy WR who gets 12 snaps of offense and gets 1 carry, 1 screen, and 1 pass down field. Hard to see him any more involved unless players are out and he has to play 25-30 snaps. Since Chargers stay committed to the run, the game clock moves faster. They offense had 46 snaps last game. So DD was in on 26% of them with 12.
True, however the Chargers are not committed to the run. They resorted to the pass last game in the 2nd half. That resulted in 3 and outs, 0 points in the 2nd half.
That's why we only ran 46 snaps. If we're not going to go big with the run, then remove FB or TE and use Davis more.

This smash mouth, run it down your throat sounds good, but unfortunately our O line is not built for it. Maybe next year.

They need the FB and TE to try and block the defenders that the IOL miss

Yup, but it's not working. That makes us one dimensional as we resort to the pass. A more balanced approach by Roman is needed.
Give them some 4 receiver looks, make the D spread out. You then remove the safeties and open up some running lanes. We've
seen some good runs, but we are just not consistent enough with the run game. Sometimes you got to set up the run with the pass.
This 2 TE, FB formation is too predictable.

Vs Atlanta the run didn't work because they quit. Gus and Vidal were gaining over 4 ypc.

Drawing a parallel from the Broncos to the Chargers last week, The Broncos move the ball pretty well against a pretty good defense in the Browns. The Chargers had difficulty moving the ball against a mediocre at best defense the Falcons.

The Broncos only have one legit receiver,Sutton then Mediocrity. They don’t have an above average tight end or running back. Their quarterback is good but a Rookie still learning.

Broncos moved the ball pretty good against a pretty good Browns defense

the Chargers are in a similar position with WR, TE, and running backs…. however we have a top six quarterback in JH in IMO.

yet, Chargers could not move the ball worth a damn against a mediocre at best defense

Im sorry, makes me wonder about the play calling by Roman. Is he holding Chargers back??

I have your questions as well ... 'jury is out' is my way of being kind since we are 8-4.

Ladd had a big day. We were successful running and quit, like it was just a test sample. Special teams were excellent. The D was basically awesome. We won. The End.
