That's the thing - our receivers are not going to transmogrify anytime soon. There have to be other plays that can work with the players we have.

Roman is not even getting bare minimum with what they have.

Making WC playoff spot this year would be an achievement - that's not guaranteed at this point but that would be a nice start. I'm not expecting much more

Yes the drops are not Roman or Herbert’s fault. But the bland and absolutely unimaginative offensive play calling is his fault and has been most of the year.

And even with Ladd, this offense was baaaaarely keeping its head above water.

I feel Hortiz is more to blame than anybody for the offensive struggles. He could’ve signed Kareem Hunt and/or drafted Isaac Guerendo and he failed to trade for WR help. He could’ve signed Hopkins, who just scored for the Chiefs, or Amari Cooper. He left the cupboard bare, he doesn’t value receivers, no pass catching TE, and the offense is paying the price right now.

It's unfortunate that Herbert isn't Rivers in that he doesn't just take over the playcalls from the OC. Rivers set his own protections, called out blitzers and killed plays at will.

You can scheme these guys open... it's on the staff, I would agree. We're running stick concepts under Roman when we're 3rd and long.

kinda hilarious the only good thing they can point to on offense is Herbert's 1 int for the season.

And that's mainly because Herbert refuses to take a lot of chances downfield - hence the low scoring offense.

Granted, it's lead to a winning record, thus far, but against a weak schedule.
