What's insane is overrating players who are clearly in a tier lower than many of their fans are willing to admit.

Rooting blindly is fine if that's your thing, but don't criticize others who choose to be realistic.

I've rooted for this team for long enough to be realistic about the abilities of the players on the field - I left the pollyanna stuff back in the 90s/00s.

It's unfortunate that Herbert isn't Rivers in that he doesn't just take over the playcalls from the OC. Rivers set his own protections, called out blitzers and killed plays at will.

And what did that get Rivers? SB wins? Post season success? Tons of late game sealing interceptions?

I didn't hate Rivers...I was just frustrated the way he would panic under pressure and throw all those picks into double or triple coverage...hero ball...

good coaching elevates the middle of the road and not so good players, unfortunately on offense the coaching sucks on this team...
