That is true. I don't see a trade for Herbert that would benefit us right now, though. We most likely wouldn't get a top 10 quarterback in return. Trading with the Giants and drafting Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders is too risky.

Every TEAM is searching for their franchise QB and drafting QBs way too early to hope they get that guy. There is no way we are trading Herbert.

The first two things teams look for when building a team is a QB and a LT. We got those.

Yep, i like that better. I don't think there is ANY way Harbaugh would approve a Herbert trade but it sure sucks he is hurt every year.
Fix the O line and Herbs health will improve. He is one of the most pressured QBs in the league I believe. The middle line is a cancer that needs excised and replaced with NFL level talent to protect the Franchise.

QJ has not performed to expectation. Chark and Hurst were both wasted signings. Bozeman has been a disappointment, the entire IOL has not performed up to expectations. Gus Edwards is out of juice. Dobbins has not held up the entire season.

Next season loading up the offense will be the priority: Center, guard(s), TE, WR, RB depth. Hortiz made a few mistakes this season re the offense. But he's a first time GM, he will learn from this that pass catchers do matter. I just want to beat the Donkeys in a few days then after the 10-day break take care of business in NE and Vegas. Then see what they can do in the playoffs.

Hortiz is going to have a lot of cap space and draft capital to work with this next off-season. He will be able to get the players necessary to turn around the offense the way he turned around the defense in one season. Chargers fans just have to be a little bit patient.
According to some patience is not warranted and everyone needs to be traded away. If you asked this board if having 10 wins and a playoff appearance was a successful season 11 months ago a vast majority people would of said yes. I understand some frustration after yesterdays loss. I did not expect the curb stomping that ensued, but overall I say this has been a successful given were this team was 12 months ago when Staley & TT were given the box.

It will be better by tomorrow Monday after a bad loss can be a little crusty

The team isn't all the way there yet, that is obvious. Not as far a long as we were hoping it was after the 4-game win streak. The offense doesn't have the horses, they are scouring the waiver wire to find WRs who've been cut by other teams. Yesterday's boat-racing by the Bucs was a bit shocking, but let's see if they can bounce back and erase the stench of that loss on Thursday against the Broncos. They ***should*** finish with 10 wins, regardless of Thursday's outcome. After Thursday they have a mini-bye then close the season against the two worst teams in the conference. Their playoff hopes are still pretty secure, even now being the 7th seed, because the teams below them are too far back and aren't very good. So, yes, a 10-7 record would be nothing to be upset about.

                Preach...

                Perspective...

Granted, that second half laydown was reminiscent of the past few years...but most teams, even the good ones, have a couple every season...

Sucks to hear it after a few years of high expectations, with big let downs...but be patient folks...

Season isnt over...but regardless, its been productive...Jim is building here...keep faith...this guy doesnt fail for long, wherever he has been...

I don’t like to look too far in the future and ignore the present, but I really want another shot at KC in the playoffs. But first, let’s come out motivated and energized and take care of Denver. That gets us one step closer to KC.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                  Let’s win one for Mack.

Exactly this. I would have been one of those that would be thrilled with 10 wins and a look at the playoffs. There is only so much that Joe can do in season 1. I mean solid guys, good back-ups are not just growing on trees for him to pick. Guys like Reagor and Chark were out there for a reason. We took a swing with what was there to little/no avail. This team makes the playoffs and will run smack into Buffalo IN BUFFALO, so a quick exit is in the cards. But I see it as a positive giving the rookies, etc. the taste of playoff football which only helps in 2025, 2026, etc.

Joe is still using a ton of Telasco guys, yes he of the now 2-11 Raiders. That's a reality we have to face. Given what Joe was able to muster, Jim has done a terrific job IMHO. I love the look of this team for the future. And although some want that future here yesterday, it's simply unrealistic. I'll take 2024.....it's a positive......it's one hell of a positive...... Bring on the last 3 games, a playoff game and then FA & the draft. 2025 and beyond is where the Chiefs, Bills, Ravens, etc. really need to start worrying. It's coming......just be patient.

Or fix the scheme with more screens, slants, and quick stick routes. Over the years, I haven’t seen many “franchise” QB’s hold it as long as he does unless they can scramble like Lamar.

Frankly, I don’t think there is any OL you can put together that today’s DL’s can’t exploit. The best QB’s and OC’s have to account for that.

Of course, running game you can count on helps as well. That’s what we thought we were getting with Roman but one injury and it went to hell.

It was too much to expect better in the first year of a rebuild but while they limp to the finish of this season I hope Roman schemes a quicker offense that doesn’t put Herbert in the hospital.

Herbert is the 6th most sacked and 4th most knocked down QB in 2024. The Broncos lead the league in sacks. We seem to struggle most with protection in obvious passing downs (to state the obvious) and with our lack of a running game, there are way too many second and third and longs which lead to the inevitable quick pressure up the middle. Better success on first down will go a long way towards sustaining drives.

Sorry to say this, but with Cam Hart going out again and Taylor being plugged into the line up, the fact Asante Samuel Jr. is not playing is a total failure by either him or the team! He was a high draft pick and someone who could really help the team right now! Did you see how our DB's played last game! Has he quit on the team?

This is not acceptable and as fans we deserve to know what's going on with him being held out while we lose games? He could help the Chargers win Thursday and yet crickets on him!

The question needs to be asked and clarified at these pressers! If we lose to Denver and our DB's get lit up again and don't step up it won't be good

I get it Jim wants players who love football, and if a player doesn't show that, he has no time for them! If we go down the drain, this off season every player better sit across from Harbuagh in the off season, and any player that isn't on the same page with Jim better get the F on and be weeded out! Bosa, Taylor, Zion, Pip, our WR's, any new players added, etc. etc. etc.

Something I never thought I would say about this team is, they looked soft in this last game as Tampa celebrated a blow out on our home field. Sorry for the rant but this last game really stung!
