Add in the budget cuts, lack of water/water pressure and a couple of other issues that are probably too polarizing to put in here and we have the perfect storm of incompetence that results in this.
Agree. And global warming ends on January 21 plus the Feds will be raking up the leaves on all the federal lands. The end of wildfires is a mere two weeks away.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
      Let’s win one for Mack.

Just a reminder, please no politics. There is a new topic for those who may have been affected by the fires, and maybe ok to vent there, but please keep on the topic of the upcoming game.

Winning a playoff game isn't the equal of stopping the fires but remains a positive for LA that many will appreciate. It adds incentive for the Chargers.

They have a new practice facility with presumably modern ventilation. Why aren’t they practicing inside?

They are not out of water, they are out of water pressure at higher elevations due to too much use.

I listened to what they told me about the suddenness. The fires came out of nowhere and winds were gusting to 100 mph after 6 months of 0% precipitation. There was no way firefighters could stop the hurricane winds whipping the fires in all directions.

To attribute this to DEI. clearing forests, which Pacific Palisades isn’t, is absolute political nonsense.

It makes me sick seeing people turn this political and pretend Mother Nature could be harnessed.

For those blaming politicians, were you doing same in Texas and Oklahoma when 1M+ acres burned causing loss of life and billions in damage in the Smokehouse creek fire of 2024?
I think thats very fair at this time, River. much more needs to be learned. you're quick to assume nothing that could or should have been done wasnt done - I suggest we all should just wait to learn more.

Lets all just focus our thoughts on the thousands that have had and are still having their lives obliterated for now, thats what is important today. My prayers for your nephew's family

                    Good news.
Maybe Chark can contribute again this week also.

my guess - just a guess - they use water tanks at the top of the hills to regulate consistent pressure. System below fills those tanks plus pumps. Those tanks got quickly drained faster than they can refill and after that - not enough pressure from the below pumping alone in the high demand/use and not really being designed to fully pump at high volume

CA still does need to build a LOT more water storage capacity, but you're right - they did not "run out" of water. just couldn't get it there. Which is also bad but a different problem to solve.
