      The point is that the situation around Rivers seems to have deteriorated since he capped that magical 2010 season. The Chargers have not made their defense better since that night. They have not made their offensive line better since that night. The run game? Pff.

        yep....the Chargers (as well) have set Rivers up to fail with a substandard/deteriorating supporting cast

        although, I would argue the Giants have tons more talent surrounding Eli.

            We haven't had a magical season since the 1960s.
            Our offensive line is not only not better, it is a lot worse than it was when Rivers was successful.
            The defense has been better in the past, but it generally does just enough to make our Sundays miserable.
            Today, the D has to work a lot harder to lose than it did back in Rivers's early years.
