The only reason this is a story is that damn Hall of Fame game pushed training camp up so the Chargers are reporting today

Personally, if the Spanos were just concerned about winning and not being the lapdog of Roger and the NFL - they should just guarantee the four years and call it good. Who cares about the rest of the league
Stop being a lap dop Deano and just pay the kid four years - -fully guaranteed. Or maybe 90% the fourth year - whatever you gave Ladd last year, do the same.

here is the thing, the NFLPA does such a crappy job with its CBA - -that every spring owners just release players and salaries go poof. The contract is a second rounder. It won't be that much - its probably like $9m over 4 years -- peanuts. but for the player, it gives him security for four years

I am not going to berate Harris for holding out. Blame the NFLPA - who sucks. Blame the Spanos as they can just easily write the damn check.
Personally I couldn't give a crap less about millionaires arguing about who gets the most money. From my perspective they're all WAY overpaid.
Harris needs to do something to help LAC win a Championship now. Do that and he'll get both fame and money. Screw bragging rights about his rookie bank account.

Or maybe, the Spanii can do something and just pay him the four year contract guaranteed and who gives a crap what the other owners think

And I doubt, if you were Tre Harris you would say "sure boss, screw me over I will sign for whatever". You would do what is in your best interests. If he gets hurt, do you really think Deano is going to out of the goodness of his heart cough up that fourth year or whatever. Hell no...

They're cleaning up the mess and putting together a roster much better than the general manager-head coach combos we were previously used to under the Spanos family ownership.
Next year's center class has two centers projected to go in the 1rst/2nd round.
        I wouldn't want be doing cart wheels because I drafted someone better than Bozeman;

I'd want a long term center that is better than mediocre.

As much as I take pleasure in the Spanos being my frequent whipping boys, they really have nothing to do with the contract squabble with Tre Harris.

But I do like your enthusiasm for Spanos bashing!

How do they not have a part in it - they are the ones writing the check so of course they do - they can easily say 4 years, guaranteed - get to camp Tre Harris.

I am sure the other owners were mad at the Texans for messing up their little game with second round picks. And it was proven the league owners have colluded since the DeShaun Watson contract

Harris is being told by the NFLPA to not blink and the owners are telling Dean to not blink. A player or a team will blink just going to have to wait on Harris

Yet the 2nd round picks of all those teams that report after July 19 are not being shown as "holdouts"
Harris drew the straw with the quirky timing of training camp

It's league wide, the owners trying to put the smack down over shit amounts of money, it's all about that guaranteed money stuff, teams are doling out 85-90% guaranteed deals but they're holding out till the cows come home from becoming 100% guaranteed like other sports, NFL owners are the biggest assholes of all sports owners across the spectrum...

It’s not about bragging rights. It’s about the fact that a player can lose his career in any single play, it could be in 15 years or it could be the first play. and when that happens the NFL will toss them out on the curb without looking back. They only thing you’ll ever get is what you already got.

any amount a boss willingly wants to pay you, you are by definition not overpaid to take it. Nobody pays employees WAY more than they believe they are worth. Don’t be a commie

Ever notice what happens to the value of the UDFA contract if they go on IR -- it drops by 40% -- granted, I still don't know why the NFLPA allows this -- but teams take advantage of that rule
and sure if you are a UDFA and get hurt, getting paid $500k is better than zero

I truly just think that Tre Harris is the victim of the schedule more than anything. I looked, most teams report on July 19 to July 22 - those second rounders are lucky because they don't have to be the first

Personally, this could easily be handled by the Chargers and screw the rest of the league and owners

I don’t know if Harris is demanding 100% or something less than 100 but more than LAC is offering, and I don’t know how much guarantee Chargers are offering, like are they only offering 60% or are they at 85% or what is there offer.

Anyone see credible reporting of facts from either side yet? I cannot properly judge who is the asshole here without more data

No terms that I know of, but because most of the 2nd rounders are not yet signed, he's getting focus as he is supposed to be in camp. Tate Ratledge for the Lions hasn't signed as yet too, probably the same situation, just gets paid a little less. As always, blame the agents, lol.
