Free to go where? Derwin is at his best in the box too.

Ok. Mickens looks like a player to me - pulling for him to be Joe’s late day gem his year

In his most recent interview, Minter recently said the obvious which is that he wants to put Derwin wherever the ball is going.
So it's important to free him up to go multiple places depending on the opponent.
just not multiple places in a game per se.
Derwin can be best used vs dominating TEs, or in the box vs run-centric teams.
I want to see Derwin around the ball as the primary or secondary tackler.

Maybe Mickens comes in as a big nickel sometimes, I do not see him taking Derwin's role of dominating near the LOS though, Derwin is AP at that. I can't imagine Minter is dumb enough to let offenses trick him into having Derwin just chase around TE decoys all game long.

Mickens instincts and reaction time should allow his speed to be enough for a cover-2 safety, he's not asked to plan man cover.
