Watched a highlight reel for Stevo Klotz. It was 90% blocking. He definitely knows how to block from the FB/Hback move role. And he is not a get in the way blocker, he is a pancake, drive you far away from the play blocker. On his couple passes looks like a decent athlete. Klotz is a great FB name, so there’s that, too

I think he has a good chance to unseat Matlock as our FB. Clearly a better blocker already and Matlock hasnt been that good on the DL. Me thinks he isnt going to cut it this year.

I just saw something interesting posted on Facebook (yeah, I know) about Rocket. Supposedly he has a serious shoulder condition which required a very rare and invasive procedure to help keeping it from dislocating.

I wonder if there's any truth to this rumor. If so, it would explain his draft slide. Anyone else heard anything about this?

True. He underwent complex shoulder surgery in 2023 to repair chronic and severe dislocations, involving bone graft and muscle and tendon transfers.

It sounds like Rocket Sanders is highly thought of by Harbaugh and has a legitimate chance to compete with Haskins and Vidal for a roster spot.

During his presser Harbaugh singled him out and mentioned he knows him well and loves his tape. Furthermore with the new concept this year for rookie camp with drills instead of 11 on 11s it also showed what Harbaugh thinks of Sanders. The coaches are conducting drills to assess the talent and skill of the rookies complete with timing to see who stands out as part of their assessment. All of the drafted players are exempt from that process because the Chargers know tham well and they already have a better chance of making the team. There was one single UDFA that didnt have to participate in the timed drills because they know him well.....Rocket Sanders.

Have you seen any Stevo film? He just destroyed opponents, as a blocker. It was Iowa State, though, not Auburn or Clemson. We've seen a bunch of guys excel at North Dakota State (Carson Wentz? Trey Lance? Easton Stick?) who, at best, are barely holding on in the NFL

So IMO, you don't really expect a guy who dominated at teensy Iowa State to make much of a dent at the NFL level, but this is Stevo getting his chance.

He's #49. And the guy he blocks almost always ends up in a heap on the ground.
