Slater, Alt, Salyer and Pipkens ..... when have the Chargers had a Salyer and Pipkens as backups? More than half the teams in the league do not.
One could easily argue all four of those OT's you are trying to talk up are injury prone players, which is a big part of the problem.

Also it's hard to believe, correct me if I'm wrong so far Hortiz has never drafted an IOLinemen?

Got to do something about the oline.
Herbert in 95 regular season games has taken 225 sacks. For comparison
Andrew luck took 174 sacks in 121 games.
thats how bad our oline has been his whole career, think about that

Branson Taylor is a T they are converting to LG. So technically no! I truly believe that ends this draft by taking 2.

You mean once could easily have argued, prior to the season.
Then, one could easily argue that one half to two-thirds of NFL players are injury prone.

'twas the unthinking take the best guy that I liked @the top of their draft board w/o scrolling down to look for anyone else, and.... my man Iapani is back 2 school, so am without allegiance @the OC, @least atm, and....

gotta do some deeper research on the IOL, as recall reasons not to draft the either of the OGs, and am prolly ok w/the likes of Slaughter (know you are underwhelmed there) or a Bryce Foster as a backup/developmental guy, and of which prolly leaves FA as the first resort, as again will have to take a deeper dive on the likes of an Ed Ingram or one of the Buffalo guys, albeit Linderbaum seems like a relatively safe bet, just don't know if it's a wise allocation of dollars ??

One half of the league means nothing, when you have probably the worst oline in football. Would you still take Pipkins over Bears starting rookie LT Ozzy Trapilo? Bet if we had him he would of started at LT in this last game. Instead we got Bobby and Deculus. Slater has missed two seasons and games in between that! Alt in two seasons hasn't played much. That's no good on any NFL team.

Barring an incredible playoff run, it's almost getting to the point where It will be a relief when the seasons ends so I never have to watch this current Oline here play again! It's the most frustrating thing knowing if we only had a serviceable Oline we would probably be the top team in the AFC!

It's going to be a bitter pill watching these playoff games IF every time Herbert drops back he has guys constantly flying at him, and he gets sacked over 4 times and has 12-15 pressures! While at the same time we have zero sacks and the RB on the other team has over a hundred yards and our DB's are getting beat deep like that last game. I really hope that's not the case.

The first 5 rounds of this draft we have to focus on the Oline and we have to make an offer to the Ravens OC too good for him to refuse. Period!

I do think if Linderbaum and or McGovern hit free agency, Hortiz goes after them pretty hard. I think if you can sign a C like that, it will up Zion’s game as well. I also think he will sign at least 2 depth pieces along the Oline as well. I’m hoping for 3. I would like OT Max Mitchell, G Ben Cleveland and G Will Hernandez. You can probably get all 3 of those guys for Becton’s price tag alone. Resign Zion and draft a rookie RG like Keylan Rutledge or Brian Parker in the 2nd or 3rd and a T like Riley Mahlman in the 6th. How about resigning Penning to be a TE/OL. Go into the season like this

                        OT- Slater, Alt, Mitchell, Mahlman(R)
                        G- Zion, Cleveland, Hernandez, Parker(R), Taylor, Penning(TE/OL)
                        C- Linderbaum, Boze

I also feel like if they don’t at least inquire about Bill Callahan, that will be a failure on top of not looking for a more innovative pass game Coordinator. Devlin and Brady are 2 weak links on the coaching staff.

If we are a one and done playoff team again, the moves that need to be made could be made by a three year old!

                          1. Fire Roman, hire an innovative OC
                          2. Fire the Oline coach, hire someone who knows that the hell they are doing!
                          3. Bring in minimum 4 to 5 new Oline man who will be penciled in as starters.
