Every NFL player is one play away from IR. It's a rough game. You can say Slater is more likely to get hurt but that's not an established fact. And is a guy who's likely to go down his next play or practice what we want to start at LG? I don't think so.

Okay, you want an OT ... which is different than sticking Lomu at OG.Originally posted by gzubeck View Post
Lomu is Alt lite...no problem taking the best oline player available at #22 and kick Slater inside for this season. Slater is a ? at this time and why should we enter the season with a "?".
Sure, if Slaters mobility is shot to hell, stick him at guard .... but I think he stays at LT, and would be better than Lomu.

I always bring up players in the 1st round with legit round 1 grades. And how every year teams mostly have on average around 13/15 guys. Sorry for being so repetitive.
Where we pick we could end up having one fall depending on the Bolts board.
Still blows my mind how Proctor can get into the 2nd level so quickly and make downfield blocks on screens. Massive guy. Athletic enough to make catches from a heavy formation? Use him as a TE on GL plays. He can play OT if we lose Alt or Slater. Put him at OG and let him road grade. Good enough pass pro at OG and can slide out if need be. Maybe Slater is so different after his injury he needs to move inside? Never know. I didnt see that with Fluker.
I think he makes a really good OG. I like him. I know not popular here. I just think he is a safish pick if we lose out on other OL i like in round 1. I cant see us drafting OG in round 1 outside of Vega. But OT that plays OG/OT? More likely imo. His weight management is the only red flag imo. He has a high ceiling. He could trim up with Herbert and co.
Love Fanu as well. Similar reasons as Proctor. Versatility.
These are some guys i really like at 22. Not all will carry legit round 1 grades. But still massive upside. Sadiq is legit round 1 grade imo. Vega.
Sadiq
Cooper Jr
Fano
Vega
Proctor
Mesidor (Love him but he is almost 25. Making him 30 for contract 2)
Mcneil Warren and Theineneman
Howell
Banks (if healthy could have had a monster year)
Concepcion (good fit in this offense and his return game would kill, i know drops flag is there)
All these guys i have been talking about since mid NCAA season. All could be there where we are. Im not listing other guys because they are legit top end and wont be there.
I just see a ton of value for a guy like Omar Cooper in this offense. I think he is an amazing fit for us. Indiana was not a serious passing offense. Well balanced. His number on pass heavy offenses would have been way up there.
I think McD would make him special. Maybe a 1 year deal with Tyreek. Thinking about getting the ball out fast to guys in space. Both do that well and can be dangerous in space. The pre snap movement and confusion will be heavy on this offense.
QJ gets traded. Hill takes over the #1 jersey. Cooper Jr takes over Hill full time after a 1 year deal. Cooper/Harris/Ladd is a nice long term trio. Hill rebrands himself and gets a big deal...we get a comp. The comp thing with a guy like Hill on a one year deal is something Hortiz would do. You dont think McD would shine Hill up? If healthy? Vegas predicts us to sign him. Vegas odds can be quite helpful making predictions. lol My whole fantasy game is influenced by Vegas.
I know QJ has done much better....makes his value higher...and he wont be signing again anyways. Get something for him now instead of waiting to play the comp pick game. 3rd or 4th maybe?
But he just doesnt YAC like he did in college. And i think thats a huge deal in our new offense. I want a WR that becomes a RB with the ball in his hands. Touch passes. Crossers. Screens. Quick hit stuff. Get him with blockers in front of him? Cooper would go off. Concepcion as well. He is a more well rounded Rashid Shaheed.
Just some random thoughts. Hope you guys are well. Son in town so will be pretty quiet until closer to draft.

Would Lomu be asked to road grade much? ….Or would be mostly asked to pull, get to the second level, pass block, and pick up stunts? Definitely not a fit last year but in the new scheme I’m not so sure.
He’s 21 years old, imagine he can add weight and strength if they wanted him to play more of a power game.
I have yet to do a deep dive on Miami’s guards McDaniel‘s first two years when the offense was healthy and humming. Anyone done that yet?

Fano would be a perfect fit on this OL. For the reasons you list. Better than Proctor for that type of scheme but i think despite his size Proctor moves like a smaller guy. I like them both over Lomu as OG prospects.Originally posted by Leslie Grossman View PostWould Lomu be asked to road grade much? ….Or would be mostly asked to pull, get to the second level, pass block, and pick up stunts? I would certainly be happy with any of those three at 22 or trade down for Pregnon or Bisontis. Then Jacas or Lawrence at edge.

Those picks are sweet. I greatly dislike the player, but those uni’s are freaking awesome!Originally posted by Fleet 1 View PostI always bring up players in the 1st round with legit round 1 grades. And how every year teams mostly have on average around 13/15 guys. Sorry for being so repetitive.

Idk why we keep saying this when we know KCs rookie LT came back from his less than a year later and Strange had the same injury as well.
Why we assume Slater can't?

I don't agree with much of what you said, particularly the wide receivers, but I want to commend you for making the powder blue helmet look good. I never thought I would like the powder blue helmet, and I still prefer white, but those pictures you have up look great.
