    Tua. Burrow. Herbert

Watch the games, look at the box scores, consider the opponent this week. I’ll leave it at that.
Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

Tua looks like the one costly miss in that group .... not a bust, he just can't stay healthy and his upside appears to be lower than the others.

Burrow is heading into a second season that he will miss due to injury, I think even Tua has played more games than Burrow...I think it's hilarious that Herbert has a reputation for being injury prone but he's played thru some serious shit and with a shitty team around him and still has put up really nice numbers...

i read that 2a said he'd throw that same pass (the one that got picked) 10 outa 10 times with no regret, no humility. So he'd rather toss 10 INTs? I'm sure the dollfins are totally regretting that pick. but SOOOO glad of their choice. And they're tied to him cuz of the contract they paid him. wonder if there are incentives in there...like play 3/4 of the season?

And I also love how when Herbert was drafted, there was universal praise and excitement for the pick from this board, myself in particular.

(Just take my word for it, no need to go digging up those old threads. 😉)

I don't want to get mired in this **** measuring contest so I will just opine about Herbert:

In his rookie year, Justin showed why the Chargers locked out by having Herbie falling in our lap. However just like any talented, promising and capable rookie QB the sophomore year came by when DCs had more film and more time to study, changes of some coaching staff, losing some key players (I think that Hunter Henry was very good for Justin in his rookie year). Then came the hard slug and the injuries as the kid was expected to carry the offense at his developmental stages. Combine these misfortunes with the FO slacking in sacking via the drafts, free agency phases, turn over in OCs / HCs, more injuries and we had a depleted Herbert.

The football gods then smiled on us and luckily the Spanos clan came to the realization that they had to go and sign up a top tier well respected coach in Jim Harbaugh. I think that Jim started to reconstruct Justin again starting with his broken parts. There were times last season when I was still doubtful because I have been on record since I decided to join this joint that Herbert had yet to prove to me that he could marshal his team to hard fought, coming back from behind victories (full disclosure, I was Blitzy on CMB, an infamous perma Negative Nancy, when I finally broke up with the Chargers a couple of years even before they left 'Diego).

In retrospect looking at last year, I now clearly see that although the shelves were not completely empty as vacated by TT, there was very little depth to this team, the OL was still shambolic, the offensive weapons were still not quite there (I understand the part of having been in cap space hell) and on top of it all, Herbert was still somewhat injured from 2023, the extent of which we would probably never come to find out.

Is Herbert elite? In my mind he most def is but he still has to show the ability and the propensity that he can put this team on his back to come over adversities if & when necessary. I think that the first game vs the Chiefs was a great start. We will only have Herb and Harbaugh for a handful of years (if Jim decides to and gets extended).

When Herbert chooses to play like Josh Allen, he is better than Josh Allen. Avoiding injury is about being intentional when running to deliver the blow (versus react and receive most of the energy). Herbert is the best of this draft class.

Herbert needs to prove it. Hope this year as SB and RS MVP.

I still remember when the good doctor punctured poor Tyrod's lung just before game time. I was watching when they announced that Justin would start and it was like hmmmmmmmm........

After the first drive, which we scored, I turned to my wife and with a HUGE smile said "DAMN WE GOT OURSELVES A QUARTERBACK!!!!!"

I didn't have a wife at the time, but I turned to my cat and said the same thing.
