I tend to agree with this. There has been so many moving parts that there is no consistency in anything we do. We need Josh Harris back badly.Originally posted by Velo View Post
Seriously? I wouldn't have expected this from you. Ficken didn't suddenly forget how to coach ST, the struggles have to do with a turnover of players, not his coaching.

Forget? you assume he ever learned. I see no evidence he has learned how to coach the new NFL KO alignment and rules. Didn’t see it last year, haven’t seen it this year. Our KO units have been poor since the new KO rules were implemented, that’s just fact. Next question is why? I don’t buy blaming Joe and his roster improvements, which seems to be what you are doing. Those same guys that play KO’s worse now go into the offense or defense and play better than their predecessors did. ST success is combination of raw athletic talent and coaching players to maintain assignment discipline. Talent is up, assignment discipline is down. Some kicks they look like they are running around like a kid’s soccer game. Ficken is responsible for that second half, no?Originally posted by Velo View Post

Those are just complainer posters who want a flawless game out of Herbert or he sucks.Originally posted by richpjr View PostJust got back from the game and read the game thread on the drive home. Some truly head scratching takes on Herbert's play. Horrible interception to start, but under relentless pressure all game long and he willed the team to win. The comments about him being a statue and he should run more like Mahomes does ignore the reality of how much each runs. Herbert has 46 rushes on the year including today. Mahomes has 46 rushes on the year through halftime of his game. Seems about the same to me... He was sacked 6 times and hit 11 others. The problem is the OL, not Herbert's decision making. The notion that he can take off and scramble every play isn't realistic as no OC is going to want to cut the field in half. A valid criticism of the O is why not more short passes, but that is on Roman. Herbert isn't perfect but we'd have 1 or 2 wins with most QBs in the league.
Check out Bo Nix's stats today Bo Nix - 18-37 173 yards 2 TD's 1 Int. and I read Bo Nix delivers magic.
Here are Mahomes stats. Patrick Mahomes 15-34 250 yds 1 int. and he's always the best QB in the league no matter what.

I don’t blame Ficken for the shaky long snapping and agree we need him back. We have yet to actually suffer from that though. Today PK snaps were actually better, and JK has been saving us from tragedy for weeks now on his stellar holds. I gave him one game ball for saving bad snaps so Dicker could nail his kick.Originally posted by richpjr View Post

I thought several punt snaps were bad today though and almost caused JK to fuck it up. My primary complaint with ST play is KO coverage, and KO returns. We are worse than every team we have played so far this year, including today. Not buying the moving pieces argument yet, it’s his job to get them prepared and they are not prepared.Justin Herbert is Elite. Ride or Die ...

Hell, KLS was a yard in the end zone and brought it out -- the guy next to him needs to tell - stay in the end zone. Give HErbert the ball at the 35
