I compare them because I think Slater will return as LT and Mahomes will be fully mobile well before the 24 months you seem to think it will take because ligaments can’t heal concurrently.
Actually, let me clarify because I don't want to get into a pissing contest. I enjoy debating with everyone here I just don't like the pissing contests.

I think Slater will be ready at the beginning of the season and think he will be able to return to his natural LT position.

As far as Mahomes goes, I don't think it will be 24 months before he returns. IMHO, it will be closer to 12 months vs 9 months which will put him somewhere in the middle of the 2026 season not the beginning of the season. In regard to his mobility, he will be mobile, but he won't be the same. IMHO, there will be a few reasons for this 1) His knee won't be at 100%. Most every player that has had reconstruction surgery on the knee don't come back 100% right away. It takes them a couple of years before they are 100%. 2) He will likely be wearing a brace which that in itself will limit his mobility. 3) His age. Once players get on the other side of 30 they start to lose their speed. We've seen it happen to after time. Plus, it will also affect his recovery. I will add one last thing on Mahomes injury, we know he had a reconstruction of the ACL but isn't clear is if he had a reconstruction of the LCL or a repair. That would also affect his recovery.

Anyway, this is just my opinion and could be wrong as hell and Mahomes starts day one. I would be really nervous for him if he is starting game 1 of the season.

Of course, all the above is subject to change if there are any complications during the recovery.

    1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
    2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
    3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
    4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

      I don't like Salyer @OG... do you..?

He can't run block worth a shit... even at OT.
But, but ... no one likes Penning at OG.
Ask New Orleans, who sent him here without much of a backup.

I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing KA back. He’s still got it. The question is, will Roman be able to come up with better passing concepts. I truly think they need to let somebody else design the passing plays and just have Roman call the plays.

You might be right. I’m only pushing back against those that say Slater can’t return as LT and Mahomes won’t be mobile (able to run) in 9 months. I’m not saying they will for sure but it’s possible.

Also I read Mahomes knee had no nerve or blood vessel damage which really improves his healing timeline.

Herbert. Improve his pass protection and Tre will get his opportunities. "3rd and Keenan" is just so reliable, giving those opportunities to another will have to be earned. Next year the WR 1-2-3-etc will be sorted out next year. Earned in TC.
It's going to look considerably different on O with Slater and Alt back and a new starting C. Maybe Hampton, Vidal and Najee Harris at RB. Way different.

Good point, 3rd and Keenan, just that is so valuable.
