I think center (IOL in general) is our biggest weakness, but I think that's more easily addressed in FA/later in the draft. I think the off-season priority should be edge. Whether or not Mack comes back, it's not a long term solution. This team needs a 3rd edge, really a number one. Those guys either cost a fortune in FA or need to be taken in the first round. Luckily, this is a historically deep edge class. The Chargers have a chance to take a talent that would normally go in the early to mid first late in the first. This team won't be drafting early in the first for the foreseeable future. Take that edge while you can. It took Tuli 3 years to ascend to edge 1 (still not a guy the opponent's OC game plans around, though). We need to address the edge room now. Even a hit can take time to develop.
I agree eaterfan. IOL might be top need but can be addressed in other ways besides the #1 draft pick.

No need to howl at the moon. We have our plan for this season.

      "13 personnel"

While not exactly what the Rams are up to, we have looks that ~ fit.

Matlock. Dissly. Penning. Tre. Oronde. Fisk (post season).

Hammer Hampton is back so where we are headed will be a big adjustment from where we've been.

      This will be weatherproof too.

Another aspect to focus on is snaps under Center vs shotgun.

We need to do what WE do, not mimic.

I'm told that we do NOT use 13 personnel packages. (Riverwalk)

We have a #1 edge already, we can’t bitch about the media disrespecting our guys when we’re doing it for them here on these forums…Tuli has been one of the best edge players in the league this year and he’s only getting better…

if folks are incapable of recognizing greatness when it’s slapping you in the face then that’s a whole different issue, Tuli has been one of the most dominant defenders in the league this year…it’s no fluke it’s no mirage, he’s the real deal…

Tuli is very good, but he's not a game wrecker... OCs aren't spending their weeks trying to stop Tuli. I think he's a guy who functions best with someone very good on the opposite side. But even if you think he is a game wrecker, if he gets hurt, this pass rush is in trouble.

Tuli has been very reliable and improving.K-Mack is still a top edge and great team mate. Oweh has been very good. Dupree- meh.
Eboibe has been coming on and several DL are getting penetration. Don't go to sleep on our edge and DL. They're better than you seem to think.

We seldom have but the wise wu-dai gave a good plan going forward. Let’s see if Roman can adapt.

Whoo, I gotta watch what I say here because I don’t want to get banned…I’ll just say respectfully I couldn’t disagree more with your opinion about Tuli…he’s the catalyst up front for our defense and he is the one creating for the other guys…when Mack was out and before they had traded for Oweh, Tuli had like 5-7 sacks in that stretch while facing double teams and getting all of the attention from offenses…

just because he doesn’t fit the mold that ideal that most people have of what a prototype edge player looks like it doesn’t mean he hasn’t been producing like a number 1…his get off first step is bordering on elite and he’s causing chaos against the run and pass, he leads the team in TFLs and his quick pressure numbers are top ten in the league this year…I think he’s top five in QB pressures too, a lot of the TFLs his teammates have come from quick penetrations that he initiated…

I find myself reading this same tired nonsense about how Tuli is a complimentary player that depends on other players for his success…I think people need to pay closer attention to what they’re seeing during games and believe their own eyes instead of just repeating the accepted narrative…

                      IOL and Edge.

                      Sign an edge via FA.
Go hard for Bitonio and Teller. Maybe we get one, hopefully both.

Bitonio may retire, or resign with the Browns. He may also be trying to drive the price up.

If Teller can pass a physical (he got hurt pretty late in the season) he may be trying to drive his price up.

I would also go after Ziegler despite the fact he doesn't seem to want to move to the west coast.

Depending on whether we can get any/all of the players above, we need 2 OG in the draft. Since I don't believe that you can find immediate starters outside of day 2, and how many teams didn't get the help they wanted at IOL, we will probably have to trade at least our 4th round pick to trade up in order to get the 2nd OG.

(You can of course find day 1 starters later in the draft, it is just too rare to count on it).

Our number one need remains OLG period.
Who can we lean on ?
                        Penning ?
                        BTaylor ?

Number two is EDGE, although it might be Kennard. I would engage in wishful thinking with him, or give Dupree a few snaps before doing the same with what we got now at OLG.

wu plants the Powder Blue and Sunshine Yellow Charger flag at the summit of Mt. Pregnon. I dare you to knock me off.

It is said that Joe is strictly BPA. Well, it used to be that Eric DeCosta would not even think about trading round one picks.

I think we go Edge. Do OGs somewhere round 2-4. Probably a couple of em. Lamp/Feeney sort of thing. Just hope we dont miss like we did with those 2. Dunker is a guy i like that can play OT and OG. Same with Jalen Farmer. Farmer is a freak athlete so he would make a nice OG in this system. I could see him out in front of some condensed bunch formations getting guys the ball fast on screens and using his OGs to lead the way. No need to use a 1 on a guy. But i could see that if Vega is there. Maybe we use the comp 3 we are expecting next year to move up in the 2nd this year by sending our regular 3rd in 27.

Ive been on the Bitonio bandwagon for a while now. So agree despite him being an older vet...he is so technically sound for this offense. Kevin Gogan type vet. Got by with skillset at a later age.

Quite a few top OGs in this league were 3rd or 4th rounders. I remember the days where this board would scoff at drafting an OG in the 1st round. Same with RBs and TEs. MLB as well.

This offense is going to be so different. The run game will be so different. I really do expect us to have a run game that is finally so consistent that teams just stop collapsing sending the house.

Move up in 2 for Pregnon.
