    wu's Pre Combine Mock

    1. Kadyn Proctor G/T
Giant man has guard-tackle flexibility, balance and power. He serves to finalize the devasting right side at a reasonable price which was envisioned before signing Becton and before Alt's injury. Proctor has a surprisingly good zone blocking grade. I have him as a day one starter at ORG, backup ORT. after Becton is cut.

    2. Jake Golday LB/ER
Can provide physical play at SAM, limited but adequate zone coverage, and sub in at EDGE Rusher when Tuli kicks inside. Brings different skills than Kennard. Can also sub in for Khalil. Replaces Perryman (age, injury) and Dupree (age). This one's for O'Leary. And Sean Spence. And Denzel Martin. I get a Nick Herbig vibe.

    3, Kenyan Rutledge G/C
Good size. Projects to backup at guard-center. Considered gap type but grades fine all around. Scheme diverse tone setter. Partially replaces Cleveland, Penning, Bozeman, Andre James.

    4. Nate Boerkircher TE Y/Flex
Under the radar prospect and position of need shows willingness and ability to block inline. Flashes potential as a receiving TE, with excellent hands and separation. Underutilized which is why he is available in round four, along with depth at the position in the draft. Comp is ironically Conklin, who Nate replaces along with Dissly. This one's for McD.

    6. Zane Durant DT/3Tech
Specialized, quick, penetrating type to add to our defensive line depth and variety, We have no one of this type after Naquan Jones left. In my view we are ok at 1Tech/ 1Tech-3Tech types with Tart, Caldwell, Tito, Matlock, Fuga.

    6. Rayshaun Benny DT/ 1Tech-3Tech
Additional rotational depth for our defensive front.

Sidebar: PFF algorithm has no problem whatsoever with me trading QJ to the Bills for a round three. That is a possible bonus pick, along with the new #214, mocked here. We have a skilled array of receivers, including Ladd, Tre', Keenan, KLS and DD. (+Gadsden).

I am resigning Zion, adding Connor McGovern, who calls a good blocking game.

Khalil is back, but I am concerned that someone will offer Oweh a contract in the mid to high 20s, after his playoff performance.

    Obviously ERFA Vidal is back.

I am bringing back Unc + Leonard and/or St. Juste, so DBs are OK.

Let's see how the Combine, Pro Days, late draft buzz, and early free agency goes.

Joe might be busy clipping coupons in early March, but we will eventually have what we need. Late, bargain one year signings are inevitably part of the process.

My take here is meant to be foundational but not comprehensive.

If this guy is there at 22, you don't wait a second
Like to me Derwin at 21 !

      Kadyn Proctor
      Alabama · OT · Junior

Will his weight work for him or against him -- and could he be a better NFL guard than tackle?

The former five-star recruit has been a household name since stepping onto Alabama's campus as a Day 1 starter, interrupted only by a brief transfer to and from Iowa between the 2023 and '24 seasons. The 6-foot-7, 366-pounder has otherwise flashed dominant potential as a blind-side protector. At times in his career, he showed sloppy footwork and shaky balance, which, to my eye, could often be attributed to his weight -- Proctor says he topped 400 pounds as a freshman. But he subsequently made weight loss a focus and played much better down the stretch in 2025. It will be important to maintain discipline and conditioning habits to ensure his size is an asset instead of a detriment. Additionally, his on-field struggles against speed, power and quickness will force some scouts to contemplate a potential position switch to guard for the Alabama standout.

Love the Proctor pick. Like Freeling can play numerous O line positions really well. This team needs positional flexibility on the O line bad.

I'm leery of 360 lb anything's ... especially guys that have to be disciplined and stay under control to not balloon up to 400 (which is what I heard Proctor's story is)

If this goes according to Jeremiah's just posted new Top 50, our IOL choices at #22 will involve an overdraft...ie Mauigoa, Vega are long gone. Trade up anyone ?

              Proctor, Bisontis, Pregnon.

I am valueing tackle flexibility. I have seen pundits adamantly post that Pregnon is a no brainer at #22, as a perfect scheme fit.

One of our picks needs to be a day one IOL starter, in my eyes.

I think all three fit the day 1 starter tag...the G/T flexibility is a plus for Proctor, but he makes me nervous as far as technique and football smarts...Pregnon and Bisontis better players, IMO...but not tackles...

I did say Proctor is in my cluster...

Edit: Would you be willing to take Pregnon or Bisontis at #22? Or.. if its G/T flexibility...Iheanachor? All 3 are ranking in the top of the second...around 35 to 40 in consensus...

I dont believe in reaches with this staff...I believe in "fits"...

Pregnon sounds like a better scheme fit than Ioane. Not sure about 22 though

Any thoughts of the bold move of trading up for Francis Mauigoa, considered a possible starting offensive right tackle and Pro Bowl offensive guard ?

It would obviously cost PLENTY to Cleveland or whoever, to garner any interest, but that would settle very solidly one of our crucial needs.

My concern with Proctor is, does he have the athletic ability to play OG in McD's offense? Dude is 360lbs. There are concerns if Vega would fit and he is a natural OG.
                        1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
                        2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
                        3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
                        4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

I won't be surprised one bit if Hortiz drafts Bisontis at 22 and he's plugged in as a day one starter.
I think Bisontis will go 30-40
#22 is the spot to pick an Edge
                          Higher value than others positions
                          Mesidor or Howell ?
