It's rare, but does happen, low probability, thus the 'wishful thinking" entry

          Bonus Pick ~ @ #214: Riley Nowakowski H-Back.
          UFAs: Alijah Vera-Tucker. Cade Otton.
          ERFA: Kimani Vidal.
CUFAs: Da'Shawn Hand. Keenan Allen. Khalil Mack.

My backup plan in the first round is to overdraft Pregnon or Bisontis...without looking back...although Chef Hortiz is normally a BPA guy.

If you read Bill Walsh's account of that draft (remember he was his own GM), they didn't go into that as the plan. They went into the drat with a lot of other teams looking to trade up anyway. As the 49ers got close to their original pick, they noticed the guys they had targeted were just not coming off the board, so they started to look to trade down. They had a LOT of takers. But even when Roberts was getting close, guys they liked were not coming off their board, so they traded down, and didn't really care if they got full value for the pick. The thing to do at that point was just to amass as many picks as possible.

The other thing that doesn't show is that while they were trading back, they were able to package some picks for 1987 draft as well. That usually is lost in the telling, because that draft ended up being not so good, although they did end up getting Harris Barton.

I don't know what the highlights are supposed to represent, but Don Griffin and Kevin ***an were excellent players too. ***an was a great run stuffer at DE, who could get some push rushing the QB. Griffin was an 12 year CB who won NFC rookie of the year and had 2 pro bowl appearances. Griffin always reminded me of Gill Byrd, more solid than flashy who just was hard to throw at.

SF has three 4ths and I think you could probably get 2 of them off them. I like the Davison Igbinosun and Jalon Kilgore picks. They would be great additions to the secondary.
could get two fourths, a fifth, and a 2027 seventh….

MM would destroy with this offense…

Conflicted with the potentual of the OL signnings. I mean if Daniels can stay healthy, i really like that and he is cheap singing but Strange is weak,...so hoping he is for a backup role because his grade was worse than Zions. So if he is replacing Zion, thats a bad singing and i dont see Zion on your list of resigns. As a backup role, its pretty decent and better than what we had.

I know you keep pushing Mitchell as well , and he only played 73 snaps last season but his pass blocking grade is 27.8 .........but he is a good run blocker. IDK what his past years grades are, dont subscribe to PFF.

Strange I think gets signed as a cheap, depth piece primarily to teach MM’s new offensive system. And they need depth anyways.

I like this a lot - both the signings in free agency and the draft
One area - I think Hortiz needs to see if he can improve the IDL position . Hand did a nice job - but can he get better

Everything else -- nicely done I like the idea of Chubb on a short term deal if Oweh leaves - which I think he will

Alijah Vera Tucker is the ultimate boom or bust -- just because of injury, not ability. I mean if he is healthy, he is VERY GOOD

But his healthy is a big time concern
