Strength in the new blocking system... ability to move laterally and pull/lead in the wide zone.
Jordan McFadden had that same problem .... couldn't even make the roster, losing out to the flopsam and jepsum that was the interior line scrubs from last year.

He looked fine starting in the playoff game against the Rams. When you have the slow witted, uncommunicative Boze and an OC- Oline coach who now everyone recognizes were in it way over their heads,

you will not look good, period!

I am starting to think that the Center-Guard cross training was for Boze's benefit, and not Zion's.

Zion is absolutely terrible at picking up stunts and blitzes. But he’s 26 and he’s durable…lol

Zion has been mediocre his entire NFL career. Is it all everyone else’s fault?

Guess this is one reason we signed Biadasz yesterday instead of waiting for Monday.

He’s also going to get a bag because he played very well down the stretch including picking up stunts and blitzes (week 13 through week 17). The problem is if that’s what it can be going forward or was that just a blip. I feel better about him under McDaniel and Barry given what they did for other previous no names like Connor Williams and Aaron Brewer. Granted that was at the Center position though.

He never played well, he was average week 14 to week 17. Teams simply knew that attacking Bobby Hart and Austin Deculus was going to be a better strategy since they are atrocious and they just left Zion alone. It’s why he looked half way decent for those games.

The reality is Zion is a Mediocre guard. He is what he is. He’s been this way his entire career. He’s young and he’s durable. Someone is going to give him waaay too much money and hope they can fix his issues.

When Zion played with C. Linsley at center, he looked not that horrible.

I could be wrong, too. I'll let Hortiz decide.

I think you may be right. In the Texas playoff game Zion was terrible! I've pretty much seen enough of Zion Johnson here. He's never played like a first round OG!

I hope he goes to another team and we start fresh with our two OT's and new Center. Draft a blue chip OG and sign a free agent OG like everyone's been say'n

Even next to Linsley, he allowed 40 pressures.

I'm not evaluating a guy for 1 game. McFadden is a free agent... I guess we could sign him and see. He'd be a lot less expensive than Zion... would you be happy with Jordan McFadden as your starting LG...?
