Maybe some here would have been happier wandering in the post game miasma of another 35 - 3 playoff embarrasment delivered by the fucking New E Patriots and its stench permeating the entire offseason.

I expect a higher avg to be offered by Hortiz probably a 3-4 yr deal but cap hit could be 15m yr 1 so not breaking the bank. Reality is Oweh worked in OUR system but he didnt work the same in the Ravens….so its not like hes a perennial 15+\yr sack guy. We know how to use him and we will offer a big pay raise from what he had in contract 1. I could see a 20m/yr avg but 15m hit this year to make it not super restrictive to continued moves.

The Mack resigning is too expensive. I'd rather have him as a position coach earning a million a year with no cap hit, while giving us the same leadership in the EDGE room. Either way, they need to target EDGE in the draft and also in FA if there are decent candidates for 10 mill or under for a year (or two). Even with that said, I think O'Leary can get more out of Kyle Kennard and others playing linebacker roles than Minter -- Minter is more of a coverage and secondary specialist, while I believe O'Leary is closer to a "line-of-scrimmage" coach even though his focus was primarily the safety room with us, especially if you look at how effectively Derwin was utilized in 2024 around the line of scrimmage.

A big reason the Minter 2 high shell/light box defense worked against the run was because of Mack. You don't have someone like him and it impacts the entire defensive structure. I think many are not appreciating what he does for our defense, perhaps focusing too much on his sack numbers?Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

He does have a significant impact, but he's aging. It's a surprise that he, the coaches and trainers were able to mitigate his injuries as much as they have considering the litany of injuries we have had to endure everywhere else.Originally posted by Heatmiser View PostA big reason the Minter 2 high shell/light box defense worked against the run was because of Mack. I don't think it's that unreasonable when you strictly look at the guarantees. Considering his age, $17 mill per year guaranteed doesn't seem like much at all if you look at it from that perspective. Still, he's had one good season, and it happened to be in a contract year. Personally, I'm not a fan of signing someone to a large deal after one good season, but he did have an undeniable impact. Certainly a risk, but less of one depending on how the incentives are structured and how achievable they are.Originally posted by Riverwalk View PostThe edge that’s overpaid is Oweh.
Thank God we signed Mack or we would have had to match Oweh’s ransom.

To get that kind of pay you would need 4 solid seasons in a row. I agree the guaranteed money is just to much considering the boom or bust scenario. I wish we could have converted this loss into a second round pick with some kind of tag and trade.Originally posted by Riverwalk View PostThe edge that’s overpaid is Oweh.
