So many people would rather take Dunker, Farmer, Rutledge and move them to LG when all they did was play in the right side of the line. What is an easier transition, C with a high football IQ to LG or right side of the line to the left side of the line?

It’s not like Hortiz hasn’t tried to fix the IOL. He went for Becton last year and Becton sucked. Yes he could have done better than Boze, but the C free agent class and draft class were not good last year. They were hoping Becton could help Boze in the regard. After the season Becton had in Philly, I don’t think anybody expected him to be complete shit.
    That's fair.

The drafting has been very good, so we will see how it plays out. I hope Slaughter kills it. Its a bit of an unconventional solution to the LG issue but they seem pumped. Actually Joe seems to be having lots of fun with his wheeling and dealing... hopefully some starters and not just back ups come out of this draft.

The 105 pick seems important to me. We need a good player with that pick.

As for Bozeman and Becton, those are Joe's choices and he wears them. That is the accountability of being the GM. Every GM on every team, every year is trying.

Honestly i did not see any center in this draft above a 3rd round grade, but i am no scout

Well, it is a IOL pick. If he can't transit to LG then it is a fail.

            Wait and see.

Again not a fan of the pick.

Pregnon was my 2nd round pick but consensus I'm guessing is something is wrong with him medical wise.

But why Pregnon in the first place? Athleticism. So the Slaughter pick was equally good due to versatility. Man have some of the naysayers even watched McDaniels' offensive line? It creates space (to keep QB clean, create running holes, freeze defenses), creates deception (key defensive players are compromised or wrong position), zone blocking, by the time defense properly reacts the offensive play supporting the ball carrier/catcher had metalized with positive gain and leverage advantage. There's very little rock em' sock em' mauling.

              Analogies?

Landon Dickerson is the only successful transition of that sort to my knowledge

There were also some other G players available that they liked better. Time will tell but not a great Charger day. Having 3 picks in the 6th does nothing for me.
                  You mean the reaches?
Every last one of them, in the end, turned into what would be a reach

I mean, we all know injuries will happen so it’s good to have versatile guys on the OL. I wouldn’t be surprised if Slaughter takes snaps at both OC and OG throughout the year.

Which reminds me, we still need a swing OT prospect.

I spent last night messaging here with Charger fans who did not like the Mesidor pick. I had a discussion with them, i did not tell any of them to get off the ledge. Spare the condescending post please
I am sorry that you don't like the pick, but Slaughter is rated like top 3 in RAS over the last quarter century in the interior, he's a proven leader, he's smart as hell, All-SEC and durable started three years straight in one of the harder college divisions, faced top tier competition regularly, AND he's baldy's blue star player, LOL! would it help if he was Canadian?

I think he will be fine, in this scheme. He won’t be a people mover, he will get in the way long enough for lanes to develop.

There’s a clip of him at the Senior Bowl going against his teammate Banks (who is decently bigger than Slaughter), and while he generally holds his own he is also steadily getting pushed back into the QB’s lap. This area might be a concern.
