I had mentioned him a long while ago in the draft thread. I thought he would be around the 6th rnd selection. I would bet a lot of money he will make the team at minimum as a ST player. I personally believe he will beat out Dupree and be a backup/ST player. I think this year's draft class and some of the UDFA's will improve the STs next year. That is one area that's not talked about a lot that needs to improve next year.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
He’s a tad light in the 240’s and considering his advanced age Herbert might not be able to bulk him up much more.
But O’Leary coached him at Michigan where he exploded with 14.5 sacks so I have no doubt he will stick around and for starters be a standout on special teams.
I love the acquisition and motivation it presents for Kennard. Tucker is clearly stockier at 6’2-6’3 than Kennard at 6’5” and can play with a lower pad level. My final Mock:
1) Woods, Peter- DT/Clemson
2) Pregnon, Emmanuel- OG/Oregon
3) Moore, Derrick- EDGE/Michigan
4) Demmings, Charlie- CB/S. F. Austin
6) Klein, Marlin- TE/Michigan

Yes, those three days between Thursday and Saturday night really changed the landscape for the Chargers in dramatic fashion...the only thing that remains to be addressed is TE3 and I'm sure that they are working on it right now...Originally posted by ChargingBolts View PostI'm stoked about the UDFA's and the draft picks!"The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. same, can't stop thinking about how much fun it's going to be to watch these 2026 Chargers...Originally posted by ChargingBolts View PostI'm stoked about the UDFA's and the draft picks!"The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. I hope you guys are right about the upcoming season and how good this team will be. But after being a fan from 1962 in old Balboa crap pile I worry about the Hex someone put on the Chargers and the complete dislike the NFL office has for them. Some fluke always seems to jump up and knock our team off track..

In building a roster - those three days, the draft and UDFAs, are the key to keeping a roster strong. You can get cheap depth when you count just draft picks in Rounds 2-7 and UDFAs for 4 and 3 years respectively. That is where AJ Smith screwed up - got cocky. Made the Hester trade, the Crompton and Waters picks. Can't do thatOriginally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post

Every year, stay the course, trust the process, and keep churning the roster every year. Cheap depth to offset higher priced free agents

Oddly enough, what made AJ successful is what Hortiz is doing now -- targeting high-value potential in later rounds and UDFA. AJ veered away from that formula after 2005, hence his slow downfall. But prior to 2006, getting the likes of Antonio Gates, Shaun Phillips, Shane Olivea, Kris Dielman, Nick Hardwick, Michael Turner, Darren Sproles, Jacques Cesaire, Kassim Osgood (essential STer), Stephen Cooper, etc in the latter rounds and UDFA was essential to our success.

Same. I’ve Herbed by Enthusiasm because when things look brightest injuries inevitably bite us in the ass.Originally posted by SD Chargers 1962 View PostI hope you guys are right about the upcoming season and how good this team will be. If the prediction market had a bet on whether injuries would be a problem for the Chargers this season…I would bet bigly on YES.

AJ started very strong and got complacent, that and he alienated and lost Buddy Nix who was an underrated guy involved in building that roster…Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Hortiz was schooled by Ozzie Newsome, they don’t fall in love with their picks and keep churning the roster to keep it competitive…those guys won a superbowl then churned the roster and coaches and won another one like 10-12 years later with a mostly new group of players…Hortiz was there for all of it…"The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. They still aren't out of the woods regarding guard: two 6th rounders and a center, who only played some guard in practices.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post

How many 6th rounders OGs start as rookies?
I would not be upset if they brought in Bitonio.
