    Back

Ok, I'm back from Italy and have caught up on the Chargers. (No way I'm catching up on all the posts, though. Too much!)

    Some observations:

    (1) I was very pleased with how they came out against the Texans. For a little over three quarters, I was thinking, "Do y'all still think this is a 3-win team?" Then in the 4th I might have believed it for a bit. I expected a loss, but to come in that fashion (Rivers INT, BS penalty against Cam, drops at critical moments leading to 3-and-outs) was tough. Watching the game on a lakeside in the mountains of central Italy made the loss a lot easier to take, though.)

    (2) Pleased with the win. This was where I expected the second win, and they're right on track for 7-9/8-8 in my book. I was a bit worried when I saw how the Eagles handed it to the Redskins last week, but mostly pleased with how we contained the offense. Of course, the fact that there were so many big plays, near big plays, and wide open receivers against our D is a bit worrisome. I think the key to this game was the offense. Aside from the two red zone fumbles, this may have been the best game I've seen this offense play in a while. Total mastery by Rivers milking the play clock, which is the way to beat a quick tempo team like the Eagles.

    (3) What's the status on Floyd? He was having a great game until that hit. I haven't had a chance to find out much, but I hope he's ok.

    (4) Ryan Mathews, do whatever you need to do to learn to hold on to the ball. I don't even care that someone else may have fucked up on that play, RM no longer gets the benefit of a doubt. He's too good a runner to continue to be plagued by fumble-itis.

    (5) Is our secondary that bad/slow, or is the (lack of) pass rush to blame, or do they get a pass because D. Jackson is so fast?

    (6) Why the hell is Mr. Hoarse's userpic a former #16 in a Tutu? I just about lost my lunch when I saw that. For someone who burned his RL#16 jersey outside Jacksonville's stadium in order to exorcise certain demons, he sure is trying hard to remind us all of a certain persona non grata. (Or was that LV that burned the jersey in effigy...? I forget.)

I was mine, I still have a small piece of it as a car rag. We even floated the burnt crunchy bits down the river, remember? Still getting my demons plenty of excercise, btw. Glad yer back.

A small village called Colle di Tora, on the shores of Lake Turano, between Rieti and Carsoli. Flew into and out of Rome and made 3 day trips to Rome as well.

Where are you planning your trip to?

Well, if you've got to read one thread only, I would strongly suggest the Rivers thread. It's a work of art.

Muck-n-A, man. That thread will rival "Nate Kaeding slittiest kicker ever" for the title of Greatest Thread in History! Anyone who missed it will regret it forever. Anyone who read every post will regret it even longer.
