Raiders and Chargers won’t swap home dates
Posted by Darin Gantt on September 19, 2013, 5:57 PM EDT
This time, the NFL isn’t sending teams elsewhere to accommodate baseball.
According to Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com, the Raiders and Chargers won’t swap home games to avoid a potential conflict with the baseball playoffs.
Instead, they’re still considering changes dates or times of existing games. As it stands, the Chargers are scheduled to go to the Oakland on Oct. 6, and the Raiders visit San Diego on Dec. 22.
But with the Oakland A’s possibly conflicting with the first date for a playoff game, there was discussion of a switch. Instead, they’re considering a time change, or possibly playing the Oct. 6 football game on Monday, Oct. 7 if need be.
Baseball has to be loving this, after not budging on the NFL’s preference to have the Ravens open at home. Instead, the defending champs started the season on the road at Denver while the Orioles played a relatively meaningless game against the White SoxGo Rivers!

I read that it depends on seeding for the A's. If they are seeded 1 or 2 they play on Friday and Saturday, if they get seeded lower, they play on Monday and Tuesday. I guess they could play the Sunday game late or on Monday in the first case, or play Saturday night or Sunday, pushing the Monday baseball game to later in the second case. It takes time to remove that tarp on Mt. Davis, of course. Since the Chargers play the next Monday night, I don't think they care either way.
