The thing that makes this loss so bad is that the Chargers had no room to blow their first 2 home games with the schedule coming that begins in week 3.

Saying that Tre Harris and QJ are not reliable .... no, they are not #1 receivers, but you should be able to run an effective passing attack against a bad defense with their likes.
We heard this before in the playoff game; how there was no one open for Herbert. And then Kurt Warner dissected the playoff loss and said that Herbert missed out on countless opportunities.

Maybe too much Madison Bear on his mind .... and I don't blame him one bit. Losing, with all those millions and the comely Madison Bear to come home to .... how much fire does the guy have?

I really wonder about that ... being a brave soldier and marshalling through injuries is not the same thing as having a fire for winning, and I wonder about his mental makeup when things go wrong.
Under Roman and now under MM ... the guy goes into a funk and the offense sputters.

Again, only one play that 2nd half which was the under thrown pass to Harris for the PI. Yes, having a running game so long promised to him would be nice.
QJ would be the last guy to be considered a consistent, reliable receiver for his QB.

Again, Players have wives and girlfriends. Herbert is not a teenager, he has been professional and dedicated throughout his career. McDaniel has raved about his commitment and working with him has he not?

I think the defense got this game off on the wrong foot. The Cardinals had 15 more minutes possession than the Chargers. That is an entire quarter. How is a brand new offense supposed to get in rythym? They had 3 possessions in the entire first half.

and counting on QJ for the if and when McConk goes down is no diff than peoples here thinkin' that MW was enough for when Keenan went down 'n out.... still don't think leaving Keenan off the roster was a good decision.

and don't know how he fared, and.... did not like the re signing of Pips, and 'specially @guard ??

and Nutty has continually highlighted the down rookie season of Jared Wilson.... how did the interior of our Oline fare, and the line on the whole, which is oft a byproduct of your man in the middle.

and Cole Strange.... was he the difference maker/glue for the Oline as advertised/implied ??

still not sure we wouldn't be better served w/Slater 'n Penning @guard ?? is Burke ready for RT yet ??

        and who's TE1.... Kolar or Gadsden ??

still wonder 'bout J Patt 'n Desrosiers.... how'd Keaton do ?? did Alec Ingold have an answer ??

and really thought we might see more outta our edge trinity.... did Akheem, Tuli and/or Mack make a difference ?? Jacoby had a nice game....

was Marlowe Wax a factor/difference maker ?? how did Derwin, Unc 'n Cam Hart fare back there ??

is McUltra optimizing Justin back there ?? is QJ the answer ?? Brennen Thompson ?? (Mike.... put your shirt back on, pls)

is Harbaugh's hands off policy yielding the desired dividends ??

is Joe deferring to his coaches delivering the expected pay off ??

can the coaches overcome our still developing personnel/talent ??

looking forward to Vegas, and hopefully the beginning of the reconstruction/turnaround.... to be con't,

I can't believe coach is actually platooning the LG spot...it just sounds like something that a college coach would do...
Pipkins has no business on the left side of the line.... 'specially @guard.

The Chargers offense was not fooling the Cardinals D, outside of the 1rst drive, few open receiver with space to run ... actually the opposite was happening as the game went on.
what happened to McConkey's and others vaunted RAC.... such a diff now that we moved on from Keenan.

Chargers went 1-6 last year when the offense didn't put 20 points on the board
                  They are now 1-7
Do Justin has confidence in QJ ?

Well, if it was a beauty contest between offense, defense and special teams ... then I would give the offense the beauty prize in the 1rst half, and the defense the beauty prize in the 2nd half.
It all adds up to getting dominated by a bad Arizona team (& until they rattle off another win or two, I will consider them a bottom dweller).

Being bad on special teams and inconsistent on both sides of the ball is a recipe for a top 5 - 10 draft pick next year.

As of now, my concerns are:

                    1. O'Leary (& not the defensive talent): will the defense be two steps off from last year, and inconsistent because the DC is not ready
                    2. The run game: will it be like the last two years where it doesn't quite get off the ground ... if not, it takes away a major component of MM's attack
                    3. Herbert: can he thrive in a system where he makes the right read and throws to spots anticipating open receivers, or is the guy going to be unsure and hold onto the ball and choose to run too often.
..................Tua, Matt Ryan and who they had in San Francisco were not scrambling QBs, they got rid of the football.

I blame the management and coaching most of all.

Rotating starting guard is some bush league coaching from Jim Harbaugh. O lines play better with continuity and cohesion. Is this the way for a brand new remade o line to gel Jim?

The young inexperienced DC they hired looks in over his head.

Marlowe Wax should be starting beside Henley.

Ladd McConkey is a good WR2 on a contending team. There is no legit #1 WR. The rest of the WR group is not reliable for Herbert. No one consistently separates. This is not new.

Mahomes has worked with the same offense for 9 years. Herbert has had 5 OCs in 7 years. I dont think any football person would say that is the ideal plan to reach a QB's full potential....even one who has set quite a few records like Herbert.

Plenty of blame to go around beyond Herbert.

Jim Harbaugh, more than anyone needs to get his shit together. Less goofy quotes and better coaching and decision making please.
                      Agree!

MM's offense is similar to Coryell's offense because MM wants his QB to throw to spots and the receivers need to get to those spoots and catch the ball
Coryell took over an offense that had Fouts and a speedy joiner, but run by a horrible conmservative boring coach.......but it took several weeks for the offense to start looking good and explosive...... once it did, the offense started averaging over 40PPG!.... but it took several weeks.....

maybe it will take this team a few weeks to get going?..... they did not play in pre season.... and have been switching OL for any weeks so there is no continuioty!

Jimbo thought he could leave it all to Mike and Chris, and go do tai chi based on his cardiologists advice. Get to work. Make adjustments. Make tough decisions.
