Pressure Points - MMQB New D ranking

There is more than one way to bother the quarterback. Introducing a new statistic that goes beyond sacks to get a true gauge on how effective pass rushers can be

I really like this method of evaluating a teams ability to generate pressure. Good read.

Here's the cumulative graph through week 2

Here's the ranking for the edge rushers

For Interior lineman (Liuget/Reyes wake the fuck up)

It doesn't take into account down and distance. Any of these are flawed

Why does that matter? Better than just "sacks."

Hmmm...interested in knowing why that matters?

I would say that more than down and distance, a sack should be weighted on how close the game is. A sack in a 3 point game is bigger than when the game is already a 20 point blowout.

When looked over a season, it really doesn't. Still better than "sacks"

It doesn't. A first down and 10 has the same pass pressure as a 3rd down and 1?

if your pass rush doesn't disrupt the other team on 3rd & 10, 3rd & 18, 4th & 29 etc.. it matters re: getting pressure/sacks when you really need them to get off the field.

And yet, still better than just sacks...

I don't see why that's not clearly missing from those stats
