Unless Eddie Lacy or Giovani Bernard have an all-worldly type of stretch into the postseason, it appears it's Allen's Offensive Rookie of the Year award to lose. What a hidden gem the Chargers found in the third round.

Chargers standout says agent was told Vikings would take him in 1st round by Judd Zulgad, 1500ESPN.com updated 1 hr ago | 1077 views
Keenan Allen has had an outstanding season with the San Diego Chargers, leading all rookies in catches, reception yards and touchdown receptions.
But Allen told the San Diego Union-Tribune that he didn't expect to be with the Chargers this season. Instead, Allen said this week that his agent told him the Minnesota Vikings "guaranteed" they would select the wide receiver in the first round.
The Vikings, of course, had three first-round selections, taking defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd at No. 23; cornerback Xavier Rhodes at No. 25; and wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson at No. 29. Patterson was picked after the Vikings worked a late trade with the New England Patriots.
The Chargers did not take Allen until the 16th pick of the third round and the 76th selection overall.
That made him the eighth receiver drafted in his class behind Tavon Austin, selected eighth overall by St. Louis; DeAndre Hopkins, selected 27th by Houston; Patterson; Justin Hunter, selected 34th by Tennessee; Robert Woods, selected 41st by Buffalo; Aaron Dobson, selected 59th by New England; and Terrance Williams, selected 74th by Dallas.
Allen, who left Cal after his junior season, told the Union-Tribune he thinks his slow 40-yard dash time before the draft caused teams to pass on him. A knee injury had ended Allen's 2012 season.
Allen has 63 receptions for a team-leading 931 yards and seven touchdowns this season. He also has averaged 8.4 yards on 10 punt returns and has 11 fair catches.
While those numbers are impressive, it's difficult to believe the Vikings are kicking themselves for taking Patterson instead of Allen.
Patterson's receiving stats aren't as good as Allen's --he has 40 catches for 430 yards and three touchdowns -- but he also wasn't used on a regular basis earlier in the season by the coaching staff. Patterson appears to have elite talent and big-play potential.
He also has proven to be one of the NFL's most dangerous kickoff return men, averaging 33.3 yards on 36 returns with two touchdowns.Go Rivers!
