I believe a 10-8 record and a win in the post season means that McCoy gets the benefit of the doubt, and he'll improve next season. I don't see any reason that he would regress, less a massive failure in personnel.

It has nothing to do with any of that stuff. I am just pointing out no one is shocked. You all should have been shocked we did it. Same time essentially, worse down and distance, if anything you go more conservative cuz you have the lead, you don't run and punt in that situation.

They also didn't have a backup center who just recently came in, didn't have howling winds, and were also playing at HOME. That makes a tremendous difference.

Not going for the second onside kick was the right call IMO. The odds of hitting two in a row have to be unbelievably low. I don't remember ever seeing it happen. And the decision to kick it would have worked out if Bird doesn't fall asleep on 3rd and 17. If the onside kick fails and they get into FG range, the game is over.

I will blame McCoy/Whiz for sticking with the conservative playcalling for as long as he did though. If only they would have opened it up after halftime, who knows what would have happened.

The only reason the wide open play calling worked at the end was the Broncos went into prevent defense.....which we all know is good at preventing you from winning.

Before that, Denver was playing excellent defense, and kicking the Chargers asses all over the field.

No, because had the Chargers stopped them, Denver would have simply went back to the defense that was knocking them from pillar to post almost all game long.

I am guessing some of you were shocked watching this afc championship game. Denver had a penalty giving them 2nd and 20 from their own 10 with 2 minutes left in the half. Clearly they should have handed the ball off and punted. Ridiculous.
