Yeah, we'd have to wait until next year.

My first thought when I heard he was released was "Sign him!"

And then, I thought of this.

Chargers aren't the only team with a struggling secondary...No way he lasts until the chargers...but I guess we can hope.

Why are we interested in Namimbi (misspelling intentional because I have never to be able to spell - or pronounce - his name ). The guy is - what - 32? Another "Freeney" signing? No thanks.

Because we would have a harder time finding pass rushers at this point in the season, so the next best thing is a corner that can cover his assignment. That's why he would make sense. It's not hard to say NOM D either. Stubborn old man ldmarine:

Another reason is to stick it to the Raiders. And just because a loaded team like SF had no room for him doesn't mean he has no skills left. 2 years ago he was the best CB in the game -- do you think he has nothing left we could use on the field and no knowledge he could impart to the younger players?

His decline was pretty rapid; that's what concerns me. And he wasn't all that great in Philly while he was there (which is part of the reason they cut him loose, IIRC). He just seems too "Freeney" to me; a panic signing that would just eat up more money that we don't have. Unless you guys are thinking vet minimum for just the remainder of this season?

His salary is pretty cheap @ $1 million, so you'd be getting him at $500k for the rest of the year if you claim him, no?

Do the teams ahead of us on the waiver wire believe they can still make a run at the playoffs? If so, he'll definitely be gone.
If not though, he'd have to be better than what we have now so you take him for sure.

He was released yesterday at 1:40 pacific I think... 24 hours on the waiver wire... I have not heard a thing about him today.

With all his years, doesn't he go straight to FA?
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

After the trading deadline, all players released have to go through waivers.

I read in preseason that Namdi has leg issues and can't run for shit anymore.
