Morning Links: Chargers on playoff bubble
By Eric D. Williams | November 9, 2013 12:15:36 PM PST
SAN DIEGO -- Good Morning. Bill Simmons of Grantland writes that the San Diego Chargers are one of 18 teams in NFL playoff limbo fighting for five playoff spots. Simmons believes that Kansas City (9-0), Seattle (8-1), Denver (7-1), New England (7-2), San Francisco (6-2), New Orleans (6-2) and Indianapolis (6-2) likely will make the postseason. And he also sticks a fork in the playoff hopes of Jacksonville (0-8), Tampa Bay (0-8), Minnesota (2-7), Atlanta (2-6), Pittsburgh (2-6), St. Louis (3-6) and Oakland (3-5).
So that leaves the Chargers (4-4) duking it out with Houston (2-6), Buffalo (3-6), Baltimore (3-5), Miami (4-4), Cleveland (4-5), Tennessee (4-4), the New York Jets (5-4), Cleveland (4-5) and Cincinnati (6-3) for the last two playoff spots in the AFC.
Simmons gives the Chargers 9-2 odds to make the playoffs, but believes they will be on the outside looking in at the end of the season. Simmons: "The Chargers blew it - they're hitting the toughest part of their schedule and had to be better than 4-4."
