No, he really has not looked bad at all, when given the ball, outside of a few knucklehead mistakes. He's just not great either, just good. I'm sure lots of teams out there would love to have a RB like Mathews on their rosters.

Depends on who was there at #12. I would take the best available player. If that was Mathews, I wouldn't have a problem with it, even given his (lack of) production. I can't fault Mathews for not being used sufficiently.

Telesco apparently was saying the other day that Larry English will be back.

Apparently he has some type of option on his contract or something they plan to pick up and Tommy says he is coming back for 2014

Time to move one from English as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather have a young guy there. I wonder if Keiser screwed things up for himself because there isn't enough room for Keiser, Freeny and English to all be back along with Williams, Ingram and Johnson.

He was also saying Butler negotiations will happen after the Superbowl. Ghelkin was saying Butler has told his agent he wants to stay in SD and to get it done and the Chargers want him too so something should get done before the season. Ghelkin also seemed to imply they will probably go ahead and wait and see with Mathews.

The discussion about English's option was discussed in a couple of threads, the free agent and the Pagano thread, and the Telesco presser was discussed elsewhere too. I'm guessing that English got a non-standard rookie contract that had a voidable year beyond the normal 5 for a first rounder.
