With the exception of Emmanuel, all the LBs are faster than most NFL safeties now. Brown in particular is super fast. Toomer is one of the fastest MLB in the NFL.

Dzubnar's problem wasn't just the missed play against Dallas. He has always had a lot of missed plays and penalties. His rookie year he also made a lot of plays, which is something he isn't doing now. The thought with a lot of younger players is that they will keep making the plays, and cut out the negative ones, but that doesn't always happen. Often, a player who threw himself around going after the ball will do so less and less, so they don't get themselves out of position as badly, but then they won't make the plays they used to.
I don't think anyone gets cut for one play, no matter how bad it is. They need to let players learn the finer points of the game. But you can't keep making mistakes and not learning from them. While fans may not track it much, coaches grade EVERY play in practice and games, looking for improvement. They go back and look at film to see players mistakes over and over again.
Joe Jones is an interesting prospect, but the fact that he is not productive is not a good sign. However, some guys are late bloomers, who can really come on if they take to the NFL and really work at it. Sometimes, they just never learned to think on the field, and you have to get the players to study film and really work on the mental side of the game. He has a lot of technique work to improve on as well.Last edited by Steve; 09-05-2017, 05:21 AM.

I guess I'm surprised Mager still had practice squad eligibility.
He's a guy who has the physical tools, but man... he struggles to cover anyone."...of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

September 6 - The Bolts made a switch to the practice squad, signing TE Braedon Bowman and waiving LB Joseph Jones. Bowman appeared in three games last year for the New York Jets before injuring his ACL. After being waived earlier this offseason, the New Orleans Saints signed him in August. The Chargers got an up close look at the 6-3, 240-pound tight end during a pair of joint practices against New Orleans during training camp at Jack Hammett Sports Complex. Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Bowman, 22, played two seasons at South Alabama and caught 11 passes for 147 yards in 2015. Despite his meager receiving statistics, Bowman is known as a good special teams player and solid blocker. He also turned some heads by running a 4.64-second 40-yard dash at his pro day in March.
The common factor for signings appears to be speed. Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
