    Sad Story Regarding Paul Lowe

So yesterday MG's 80+ yard TD run broke Paul Lowes record for longest rush TD in Bolt history. I was researching the run and came across this article yesterday. I remember being bummed our for Lowe after hearing how he needs this money to take care of his sick daughter.

Then coincidentally late last night on the news there was a report of 2 young children dying in an apartment fire yesterday.

It turns out it was the children of Paul Lowes daughter. The one dying from Breast Cancer. They were his 2 grandchildren.

    So messed up.

A star in this league and can't get help because of the greed with both owners and players. Players need to negotiate on behalf of old timers, just give them something.

that negotiation you desire already happened like 10 years ago and several funds were established to help older retired players. The players union and NFL lawyers obviously couldn't predict the future and foresee every situation that could ever possibly arise to include in the settlements. Would be nice if his former team did something to help him out of compassion though....

            Sad story, to be sure.

Did Lowe play in the NFL ? Would his AFL tenure be "grandfathered" in or make him eligible ?

Unfortunate situation and the reality is-it'll take someone privately "stepping up" to raise funds
rather than any type of corporate/organizational obligation that may or may not exist.

According to Wikipedia, his last season was with the Super Bowl winning Chiefs in 1969, which would technically be the last AFL season, but the merger was agreed upon in 1966 so I suppose an argument could be made he's a retired NFL player.
