By giving up 34 points to the mediocre Kansas City offense, the Chargers moved themselves into position as one of the worst defenses we've ever tracked. Teams from 2013 now rank among the five worst all-time in offense, defense, special teams, and total DVOA. And yes, these tables plus the table above combine to tell us that if Philip Rivers continues to play out of his gourd, we may a playoff team that also has the worst defense in DVOA history.

Yeah I saw the site today and the Chargers defense was by far the worst this season. I didn't know it was ranked as the worst ever.

Yeah I saw the site today and the Chargers defense was by far the worst this season. I didn't know it was ranked as the worst ever.

I'm surprised by how bad they're playing but not by the analysis.

Reyes has been such a monumental disappointment. Thomas was never much of anything. Liuget is only moderately disappointing.

For all the high draft picks we've invested in the front 7 we have remarkably little to show for it. 5 of the 7 spots have a pick from the first three rounds.
