Meaningless game. Another blackout. Don't see the benefit of a win at this time of the year. "Bragging" rights? To say "We beat the Raiders!"? To put the hurt on Manning? Whoop-de-$hit. When the Raiders and Giants draft ahead of us - and we're cursing and swearing come April because they took 'our guy' - who is gonna be laughing then?

So the bottom 15 or 16 teams should try and lose out to hope they get a better pick because they have no chance of winning the superbowl?
When you get down to it, in the grand scheme of things, even the Superbowl is a meaningless game. If you lace up your cleats, you play to win.
I don't expect the players and coaches to mail it in; they are getting paid, after all, and even the Charger players, I'm thinking, have at least a modicum of pride in their chosen 'profession'. I'm sure the plan is to win the game. Every game.
It's just that, from this point forward in '13, the victories are going to be pretty hollow. In other words, they serve no purpose in the long run. All my opinion, of course. But the minuscule level of satisfaction that I might personally feel after a victory is nothing compared to the disappointment I am going to certainly feel if, say, we lose drafting a guy we REALLY want (and need) by 1 or 2 picks next April.
In fact, I'd wager that more than just me are going to be posting pretty much the same thing in April (if the scenario I just described plays out): "So glad we beat the [name a team] last December. What a satisfying victory. The Raiders just drafted the guy we really wanted...DAMN!"
