I have a couple of friends who played with the Mothers, and we were just talking about that recently. Time really does fly, it caught them by surprise too.

I know a lot of people really liked his work and I know it was very influential, but I never found it too accessible.

Yeah. It was pretty crazy and he recorded/released a TON of stuff. Roxy and Elsewhere (live album) is a great place to start
