8 mill a year for a two down LB. Still gotta stop the run.

    26

    Nigel Bradham

    LB
    Eagles

A run-and-chase linebacker limited to 4-3 systems, Bradham is coming off a career year for the Super Bowl champions.

UPDATE: Bradham agreed to a five-year, $40 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, Rapoport reports.

HE is a 3 down guy for most teams. For us, it would depend on who the Mike LB in the dime is, and if we would play mostly nickel or dime. Under Pagano, we rarely played dime, sticking to the various nickel packages. Under Bradley, we started the same way, but then switched to the dime and the D took off, and we started winning. If Perryman is the only LB in the dime, then adding a high priced (or high pick) at LB makes no sense. There are inexpensive role players eventually if we only are going to use a LB in the base personnel, which is what we did last year. Again nickel and dime is going to be 75% of the snaps and that % goes up every season since the 1980's.

Dude is an idiot, but he can play
Here's one that will raise eyebrows, even if it's from an unlikely media outlet. Chris Renkel of CBS 42 in Birmingham, Alabama reports that the Raiders and Bengals are discussing a possible trade for linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

He was a in on 90% of the Eagles defensive snaps last year. I wouldnt have been hot for him if he wasnt a 3 down guy.

When are the chargers going to address the LB and DT personnel? Really need someone like Zack Brown and NT.

Remember the old adage, "Let the market come to you". Usually when a team makes a big splash FA signing, on the 1st day... it's usually a bad signing, or they overpay.

The smarter teams have usually avoided this. Again, this isn't a hard a fast rule, there are exceptions.

Take your time T2, make sure the money is worth the production...

C Mike Pouncey released by the Dolphins. He would be an instant starter for the Chargers.

Yes, the unprecedented activity -- or, at least, reporting of said activity -- during the three-day negotiating period rendered a near drama-free beginning to the free-agent market. More than half of our top 100 free agents have new contract agreements, and by Wednesday evening, NFL teams were picking through a second wave of less-pursued players.
