Until the Chargers can get their act together with kickers, Seabass would be a great stopgap
He was still awesome until the Raiders found a great young kicker

There are 2 kickers that are potential draft picks. I could see a team maybe spending a 6th or 7th on either, which is pretty typical. However, like all rookies, they are probably going to be pretty inconsistent. Even guys who are consistent K in college often struggle with consistency in the NFL. These guys both have some consistency issues, so I don't think a draft pick really addresses the issue.
Going for someone like Jano makes sense. He isn't really an answer, but it gets one guy who can be a fill in the gap on the roster. Come TC, we can monitor all the PS games, and if there is a cut who was destroying it behind a vet kicker who then got released, we could sign that guy. But that doesn't happen that much, so it is better to get one while we can.
I also think Jano gives us as good a chance past 50 as you can expect. It is not like those ranges are automatic. He has definitely slipped at that range, but is still good enough out there.
Ultimately, our success hinges more on scoring more red zone points. We have to come away with points on almost every red zone chance. TV guys overdo the TD aspect. We need to improve on TD, but the biggest indicator (long term) is making sure we get points on almost every chance, and we weren't even close to good at that last year.Last edited by Steve; 03-15-2018, 04:11 AM.
