Sweet. We're two games better already. That's as good as it gets.

          Chargers Sign Kicker Caleb Sturgis

          Friday, March 16, 2018 2:54 PM PDT

@ChargersRHenneth overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft. He made 26-of-34 attempts as a rookie (76.5), and followed that up by converting 29-of-37 (78.4) the following year.

The kicker joined the Eagles in 2015, and his career took off as he made over 80-percent of his attempts each season. Sturgis converted 18-of-22 (81.8) that year and then 35-of-41 (85.4) in 2016. Unfortunately, he was limited to only one game last year as he was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a hip injury following the season opener against the Washington Redskins. He did make three field goals in that game, including a 50-yarder.

            K Caleb Sturgis

            Florida SEC

            Drafted By: Dolphins

            Grade

            59.2 ?

            Draft Analysis:

"Accurate, accurate, accurate. He got progressively better as the season went on." -- Charles Davis
            • 5'10" Height
            • 30" Arm Length
            • 188LBS. Weight
            • 8 3/4" Hands

            OverviewAnalysis

            Strengths

Flashes the ability to hit strong, high field goals in the 45-52 yard range and drive kicks through the uprights from 55-plus yards away. Has improved his field goal accuracy over time. Shows mental toughness in bouncing back from misses. Weaknesses

Only adequate size for the position. Inconsistent in his trajectory on both shorter kicks and when driving the ball low to get a bit extra once past 50-plus yards. May need to speed up his approach on placements, his three-step delivery can be a bit slow. Kickoffs reaching the end zone are a bit lower than scouts prefer, and could be brought out by NFL returners. NFL Comparison

            Phil Dawson Bottom Line

Now two years off a back injury that cost him most of the 2010 season, Sturgis has enough leg strength and accuracy to have earned All-American honors in two consecutive seasons.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

No need to draft a K now. That's a big bonus.

Looks like a good signing but is he clutch? Is he as good as Nate Keading?

Looks like half of his career kickoffs end up as touchbacks. Not sure the league average right now but that seems to be pretty decent.

So do they cut Rose or Arguayo now? No need for three.
