I was doing a head scratch on the selection but after reading more it sounds like the kid really showed hes a difference maker at the Senior Bowl against top competition. My daughter is going to NC State starting the fall and have always supported State due to Rivers. I trust the evaluators we got a kid that can develop into the missing inside presence to push the guard or center into the qb. May say he went too early but time will tell.

In the clip from the Senior Bowl practice, he literally embarrassed that guard. Showed a great first step and some serious power. For a 3rd Round pick, I'm very happy with the selection.

NC State defensive linemen, Justin Jones and B.J. Hill, remained incredibly sturdy in the middle. They're both strong bull-rushers with heavy hands. Iowa offensive guard Sean Welsh was put on skates by [Jones] in a one-on-one rep. Hill even deployed a quick spin move -- impressive at his size -- in the middle that nearly beat UTEP offensive guard Will Hernandez."

From Josh Norris with Rotoworld: "NC State DT Justin Jones flashed in one on one reps. When his motion is in rhythm, Jones has a bit of Grady Jarrett in him. But in games, Jones is frequently the last player off the ball, meaning his is constantly working from behind. That isn't an issue in one on ones"

After reading up on Senior Bowl practices and watching some tape from it, Im pretty haapy with Jones. Hes definitely got the power to push the guard into the backfield and thats what I want to see. Time to play ball on their side of the LOS for a change.

              Solid pick.

I hope he can contribute at least a little bit right away.

That bull rush drill was impressive, but how much of it was due to Welch? The best thing I heard from TT was that he doesn't take plays off, which is kind of understandable at that position.

Except the scouting reports seem to indicate that either he takes plays off or is very inconsistent....

I don't know much about him, but Telesco and his scouts seem to have a knack for finding DL (Philon, Rochell and um...Bosa) and Smith seems to be a fantastic DL coach (Thanks Whiz!) It may take a year or two of development, but I am pretty optimistic about the pick.

Also, Bradley's defense does not depend upon 350lb NT but rather more quick, penetrating 300 lb DT types

The worst thing I read is that hes the last man to move after the snap. I dont know why that cant be improved.

It depends on what you mean by develop. If by develop you mean to reach his full potential, then yeah, it is probably a couple of years.

If you are interested in how long until he can fill a role and be part of the rotation, then that is probably right away. Which is good, because we need some depth behind Mebane.

Steve, I mean like Philon. Philon came in and had to learn how to be a pro and use his talent. The Chargers were patient. And it appears he is responding. I think he will pass Luiget this year.

I think he can come on quicker than Phillon. He is a better player coming out than Phillon was.

Not as much upside in terms of making the big sacks and slashing penetration, but maybe a better overall player.
