Ekeler is a pure zone runner. He has zero patience. He hits the gaps hard and just goes.
Gordon is a better power runner. Likes to sort of glide, then wait for the blocking to develop, and since that doesn't happen for us, it often ends badly.
Jackson is actually more scheme diverse. He has a lot of highlights as a runner when he can just make a cut and get upfield on zone plays. But there are plenty of runs where he is patient and lets the blocking develop. There are really not very many guys who have the ability to run both the quick hitting zone plays and be patient. Situational awareness is fighting basic instincts.Last edited by Steve; 04-29-2018, 07:04 AM.

Steve with the Sharon Stone plug. LOL Just Kidding Steve. That's what I like about Ekeler. He seems to understand we won't have big holes to run through so he attacks the line whereas Gordon prances around waiting for something that never comes. at least a hole big enough for him.
Looking forward to seeing both Johnson and the UDA back Detrez something. They can make this team. Right?

RB is the most interesting position group going into TC, IMHO. Everyone should be feeling some heat. Gordon has not more excuses. We have a good OL for him (finally). Ekeler showed a lot of good stuff, but got exposed in ball security and got us killed in pass protection vs KC and Jax. Johnson and Detrez both have some ability. I could see either of them as a NFL RB. IT would really help our O if one or more of the Detrez, Johnson, Ekeler could step up and earn the 3rd down RB spot.

2018 Prospect Preview: Justin Jackson exceeded expectations behind an underwhelming O-line in 2016- Northwestern senior RB Justin Jackson only gained 0.9 adjusted yards before contact last season (tied for third-lowest in the 2018 class), a sign that his offensive line struggled to pave the way. However, Jackson still managed to have a successful year because he could make people miss, ranking No. 2 among returning Power 5 running backs in forced missed tackles (62).
- Proving he has the speed to go the distance, Jackson totaled 24 runs of 15 yards or more last season, which ranked No. 2 among that same group of running backs.
- Jackson thrived through contact, as he averaged 3.59 yards after contact per attempt last season to finish ranked No. 2 among returning Power 5 running backs with at least 200 carries.
- Unable to bail out his underperforming offensive line, Jackson has struggled in pass protection. He ranked No. 78 in the 2018 class in pass blocking efficiency, allowing 11 total pressures on 122 pass block snaps.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
The Wasted Decade is done.
Build Back Better.
