Brilliant? The other team starting around the 30 on virtually every kickoff isn't brilliant, it puts the defense at a disadvantage. Have we had a single kickoff return that have we run back to the 30 this year? I can't recall (and am too lazy to look). Other kickers don't seem to have much problem getting touchbacks on a pretty regular basis.

This has already been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere, but yes, brilliant. They put the ball in the hands of a less experienced ball handler, increasing the chances for a turnover and just about completely eliminating the possibility of a long return. Which puts the defense at a bigger disadvantage, making sure the opposing O consistently has to drive 70 yards for a TD, or occasionally letting them have a short field because their dynamic returner (Harvin) busted a couple of long ones? You may not like the KOs against Seattle, but they were coaching/strategic decisions, not indicative of a lack of leg strength.

As long as he puts it through the uprights on Fgs, I can live with the kick offs.

Novak has kicked off 23 times this season and has 4 touch backs, the fewest number of touch backs of any regular kicker in the league. Compare that with Pat McAfee on the Colts who has kicked off 26 times and has 24 touch backs. This "brilliance" you speak of is the coaching staff having to compensate for his very weak kickoff leg.

If Scifres can kick off through the end zone, I am all for it. Otherwise, Fuck it. I definitely do not want a KO specialist taking up a roster spot. I also don't like the idea of changing a kicker that is accurate, including beyond 50 yards, for a kicker that blasts deep KOs and can't put it though the uprights. As long as Nick keeps drilling his Fgs, I can live with the KO game....just don't like the directional kickoffs that go OB and give the other team a starting point of the 40. Keep them inbounds, keep our lane integrity, make the tackle.

LOL, Not as Accurate as Nick Novak!
              Prediction:
              Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

                Down goes Nate!

Cowboys' Dan Bailey becomes the most accurate kicker in NFL history

With his 42-yard field goal in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey earned himself a spot in the NFL record books.

Bailey has now converted on 100 of 110 career attempts for a 91 percent rate, making him the most accurate kicker in league history.

His kick was also a key moment in Sunday's game, bringing the score to a 10-10 tie as the Cowboys try to stage the improbable road upset.

Didn't someone supplant Nate a while ago? I thought this was one of those records that is constantly changing hands.

                      Wasn't it Novak?

We need a new Novak thread!

Speaking of Novak, I felt really bad for the guy on Sunday. Extended his streak, hit a new personal best 54-yarder... but then the look on his face when he realized none of it would count... Poor guy!
