I saw that Tre Boston turned down a vet's minimum contract from the Arizona Cardinals. Are we thinking of possibly going with Jaleel Addai as the other safety? Are we waiting out Tre, because of the number of FA safeties still available? Is there someone in camp that could possibly "dark-horse" that spot? OK, gang, wha-cha' got?
OK... The Chargers' two starting safeties on opening day.. Derwin James, and.... ???

I have heard that James was getting most of the reps at SS in OTA/MC. Not sure what that means for FS. But both Lynn and Bradley have said that King will see some time at FS. Hopefully that doesnt mean Verrett will be in the slot. Hes too fragile. I also hear that Tony Brown looks really good. He can play single high with his speed. I would not be surprised if he gets groomed there. Addae could play FS as well. The great thing is we have a serious stable of DBs. James can spy RBs and TE;s and be that enforcer in the run game for us. A player that will save us from the long run that killed us last year. Hes a small LB of sorts. Sideline to sideline. Should really help us in the run game.
I think another interesting story in OTA/MC was how much time Kyzir White was getting at WLB. He may push for a starting gig. Teams would catch us out of position at that spot with our need to rotate in so many players. Brown. Phillips. Perryman. This is a big reason why guys like White who can do it all are so important.

Great to here about White, really looking forward to his contribution to the D - even more than James. Of the top four defenders we chose, White will be the most on an island: James joins a near elite secondary, Jones and Nwosa should be solid rotation guys, but White will be responsible for good chunk of playing field against both pass and run, ideally he’s the LB who stays in the game when we go dime. If he can handle it.

I think Addae is penciled in as a starting safety, especially with that contract he got last year. I think SS is his natural spot in our D but he has played deep safety in the past. I would think the team would rather play him out of position in order to let James start at SS.
James will probably move all over the field in sub packages but starting at SS would allow him to be on the field as much as possible.

It will be Addae. But he and James will flip-flop all over the place. They can both play free or strong and that is a good problem to have. From what I have seen, Bradley's defense has more pure FS role in it than Pagano's did. Pagano basically had two safeties with little differentiation. But with James Bradley can move him depending on match ups, game-to-game. He can be an eraser on TEs and some big WRs, something Addai cannot do.
TGLike, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.
