I remember when we lined up for that kick, I saw the really unbalanced line and thought "Wow, thats unusual. Ive never seen that before." But I had no idea it was illegal.

I dont really care about all this. Penalties happen. Blown calls happen. We've had more than our fair share of unlucky bounces and breaks.

Great theater? Big Ben against Cincy? I can say that matchup does nothing for me. I honestly do not enjoy watching him play. Best thing that could have happened to Pitt was not to make the playoffs. Gives them an excuse to shake things up, namely by divesting themselves of Ben. May not happen, but could be justified. And it should happen if they want to win.

Nothing better than watching a 6 foot 5 inch rapist squeak into the playoffs right Peter?

Really? You may not like the guy, but ther reason they are not in the playoffs this year is not on Ben.

I was thinking the same thing. Why does this rule even exist? Most rules are about safety, this one is about what? Whats the intent here? And if I understand it correctly its because we had 7 guys lined up on the LOS all on one side of the center. So, if one guy takees his hand out of the dirt and backs up 1 step, all is good. Is that really any different? Dumb rule? NFL officials are so overloaded by the rules its no wonder they have trouble getting it right.

The people saying we cheated would probably have a point IF (and this is a very big IF) we had used the overload to drive the center of their line back, and Guy or someone like that was able to get penetration and block the kick. But this is a technicality, and a rule I think they should change. It basically is another attempt by the league to further diminish the importance of ST play.

But back to this rule, was there a rash of knee injuries on kick blocks that we weren't aware of? And does the NFL really give a shit about the guys who play on kick blocking (O or D) teams?

It should have been a penalty according to the rules, but since it had zero bearing on the outcome of the play, tough luck. I'll say again, I bet if we scrutinized every single play in that game we could find dozens of penalties that were not called, any one of them drastically altering things.

More like every game on any Sunday... including an awful lot that came against the bolts along the way this season. It's semantics at this point... bottom line: We are in. They are out. Period. It's over. We're playing Cincy Sunday and they can hate it but it IS happening

I didn't say it was. But I think that team has grown stale because of him, IMO.

Please refresh my memory about the pass interference call on Allen.

They called a pick on him that negated a touchdown.
