He should be but sadly probably not. I agree with Leo above, way too many people counting rings as if it means a lot in this quintessential team game. You can knock franchises for not winning rings but a player should be judged on their performances and Rivers is clearly one of the best of his Era.

He's finally getting proper recognition, and its about 10 years too late. When Rivers was tearing it up and winning games early, the NFL media was 'in love' with...Jay Cutler. There was that absurd narrative, driven by Broncos players and buttboys with a microphone like Mark Schlereth that Rivers was a blowhard and 'didn't carry himself well'. At the same time, everyone was heaping praise on Favre for 'enjoying the game' and 'playing with fire' and 'he's like a kid out there'. Sound familiar? Spoiler alert: that's what they're saying about Rivers now.

If you're a young QB and playing great, you better keep your mouth shut or not be demonstrative in your manner and just be a robot and rack up stats (Mahomes, Kaepernick before he sucked, Wilson, etc). They love that. Then when you're old, yell at teammates and coaches on the sideline and generally make an ass of yourself (Brady, Favre). They love that too.

Oh if you're a a non-QB, particularly on defense, its actually better for your case if you strut around and make speeches and stuff (Ray Lewis).

Rivers *should* be a 1st ballot HOF-er. He'll defintiely get in. How long that takes remains to be seen. I think the 'must win a super bowl' thing is overstated as there are plenty of QBs and other players in there who haven't, including all Chargers who have made the cut.
