Gordon is a very underated goal-line, short distance runner. In there he's very decisive and doesn't wait too much. In midfield he tends to be too patient waiting a bit too long. He's always a homerun runner since college days, that's his game, that's who he is. He has gone a long way in ball security, catching the ball and goal line runs.
