I am sure Mathews will give it a go. How long he can last is a different question...
It sure seems like Hardwick won't play, but I guess we'll find out. For his own long term health sitting may be the best thing for him.

Against Denver, I think Ohrnberger gives us a better inside running game. Hardwick moves well in space, is a better pass protector and makes the line calls/adjustments better. But Ohrnberger is the better inline run blocker. If Mathews was completely healthy, we could just do a ton of outside zone plays, but with his ankle and the fact Brown no longer has his great outside speed, I think we might need to do more inside zone and traps up the middle, and that says Ohrnberger to me.

If Clary and Fluker can't go, would we go with Ohrnberger, Troutman and Schilling on the right side? Or do we leave Schilling as the guard back up and activate Becton? Does Wiggins or Smith get the start at RT?I'll ride the wave...where it takes me.

if Hardwick is inactive, we need another OL body active- and who is the backup OC and what does our offense look like if the backup to Ohrn is forced to fill in?Life is too short to drink cheap beer

EDIT: saw this on UT "D.J. Fluker practiced Friday. One of his ankle's was heavily taped.
Jeromey Clary (shoulder) observed the offensive line's drills."Last edited by SDFan; 01-10-2014, 01:31 PM.Life is too short to drink cheap beer

OIP linked to it in the Denver Week post. Fluker stretched but did not practice and Clary injured his shoulder and had to leave the rest of practice.I'll ride the wave...where it takes me.

From OIP in the Denver Week thread:
"Fluker isn't practicing he was out there for stretching but isn't practicing. Clary got injured yesterday so there is no way to know the severity.
Annie Heilbrunn: D.J. Fluker did initial stretches, but is now standing with Nick Hardwick, watching practice, helmet off.
Michael Gehlken: Chargers guard Jeromey Clary left practice Wednesday with shoulder injury. Not practicing today. "I'll ride the wave...where it takes me.

I know Fluker left wearing a boot last week. But, if you watch McCoys post game speech, McCoy and the team are all jumping up and down at the start.. and Fluker is on the left of the screen hopping all around, so I'm sure he'll be fine for the game.
