    Ahtyba Rubin

Word here in Cleveburg is that the Browns (who have 46M in cap space, including Rubin's current contract) might cut or trade Ahtyba Rubin rather than pay his $9M salary this year. This is a very good player - NT, 5 technique - who is a backup in Cleveland since they drafted Phil Taylor. Rubin was a starter and a very good one. He makes too much to be a backup and no one is going to trade for that salary. I hope the Chargers pounce on him if he is cut loose.

Only the Browns would be worried about this given how much money they have to play with even if he is kept. D'Qwell Jackson is in a similar position according to media here.

With the implosion in Cleveland, many good players will shake lose in the next two years. Same in Miami and the Raiders to a lesser degree. Several interesting players who could help us if we can afford them.
    Go Rivers!

Not sure how much work he's done at NT,,,,,but what the hell bring him in for a look.....he's 28 YO. So there should be some tread left on those tires

Leaving Cleveland for San Diego is a helluva upgrade....nothing personal Heatmiser

He is one of their starting LDE, and spends a lot of time playing DT in their 4 man line. He got more defensive snaps then any other DL did for Cleveland. last year.

He is a solid starter. But they have several solid starters, and only so much playing time, so they could afford to ditch one. And any guy like him who has a $9 million contract signed it knowing that he would be cut or have to redo the contract.

He has to be a good run defender. The guy is just about the worst pass rusher in all of football. He gives good effort, but he is just not a guy who moves very well, and not creativity. Just pure power.

Pat Sims had a good year for them, and was a pretty good player in Cinci before that.

They do have a couple of good players, but Sims was the only FA who seemed to fill a need and was a good player.

Shhh... They have a couple of players who were good before they signed with Oakland and will be good again when they part ways, but our official version of events maintains that there are no good players on the Raiders roster. Silver-and-black is kryptonite to all talented NFLers.

I was reading a thing last night that Sims doesn't necessarily sound like he is all that thrilled about going back to Oakland. He mentioned that the hardest part of playing for the Raiders is the losing, and that implies he might have an interest to play for a better team.

I really don't see why any player would resign with the Raiders, ever. Losing every single year has to be difficult.
