WRs, CBs, and DTs still "out there"

I just listed a few of the top-rated guys still available, if we even have our eyes open anymore:

    Wide Receivers
    Santonio Holmes
    James Jones
    Kenny Britt
    Miles Austin
    Damian Williams
    Lance Moore
    Jacoby Ford

    DTs
    Henry Melton
    Kevin Williams
    Alex Carrington
    Pat Sims
    Ryan Pickett
    Aubrayo Franklin

    CBs
    Terrell Thomas
    Carlos Rogers
    Dimitri Patterson
    Jabari Greer

    Observations:

    1. James Jones appears to be headed to Carolina., Not interested, at all, in Holmes, Britt, or Austin. Lance Moore (Saints) is a cheap option, I suppose. But that doesn't excite me too much.

    2. Melton from the Bears and Sims from Raiders. I'm guessing that Melton is going to be too expensive, and so this explains our apparent non-interest? Sims has been mentioned several times before on the board, but I haven't even heard any rumors linking his name to the Chargers. Franklin could be a 1-year stop gap...if we draft a developmental guy.

    3. The list of remaining CBs is abysmal. Don't even know who Terrell Thomas and Dimitri Patterson play for. Rogers and Greer could be cheaper insurance, I guess. The CB free agent cupboard is pretty bare. We may, as Beer has suggested, be drafting 2 in the first 3-4 rounds.

Wouldn't be disappointed if we brought in Ryan Pickett, but I would be surprised...not much cap room, and he's going to cost.
"...of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

None of those options excite me. I'm perfectly happy waiting to see what the draft yields first, and then, if we still have glaring holes at those positions, patch them from this list and preseason cuts.

I'm thinking that's the team's plan too, given the total lack of news/rumors surrounding the Chargers and FA right now.

          I'm with you.

James Jones doesn't look like an option and DRC is still out there but likely out of the price range.

We had money to offer Steve Smith a contract so they do have some money left. I'd really like a veteran nose tackle in the mix.

Id love to get DRC on a 3 or 4 year deal with a very low first year. He missed the window for huge $ this year, I think.

I think we draft those positions and throw guys into the fire early. Get them ready for the main window opening which imo starts when we are sitting on a bunch of cash. Trade our 3rd and 4th to move way up into the 3rd. We get 3 starters in the draft and some depth. Next year sign some big names and draft a couple more starters we are set for a while. Just keep drafting well and resign our players.

F that guy. He's a cancer and a career underachiever.
