    Ohrnberger resigns

Glad I don't have to unfollow the guy.

UTgehlken: Chargers address need for depth on interior line, re-signing guard-center Rich Ohrnberger. A one-year deal, team announced.

Right after Ghelken says it was unlikely he would be brought back.

Sweet. I guess his Jets visit didn't pan out.

I'm interested in seeing the terms of the deal. I suspect it's close to vet minimum, maybe some playtime incentives if he has to come in and start a few games.

I do think it also has to do with the lack of quality OG in this years draft. There's a few guys that are solid at the top of the draft, but not much in terms of depth at the position. Ohrnberger provides better value than any late round pick this year anyways in terms of playing and not costing us a game.

BTW, I am glad to read that he re-signed as opposed to resigning.

I still think we are probably going to try and target an interior OL (C/G type) who can maybe help across the line. But I still like the idea of bringing Ohrnberger back, just because he is a solid pro and he is going to make the rookies work for it.

Lets see if he can beat out the UDFAs we bring in.

I don't see where a rookie fits now. The team has Harris as the swing OT. Troutman as the backup OG. Ohrnberger as backup OC/OG. Assuming we carry 8 lineman again to start and we keep a few UDFA on the PS.

                  Troutman could be upgraded.

Good move bringing back the Joker.

Not by a day 3 pick more than likely.

IMO we are still an OT short. Having to pull Clary from Guard changes two positions if he has to go in as a Tackle. I'd say get an OT prospect that can come in and learn backup roles as guard and OT.

Harris would be RT if Fluker is hurt.
