He is not a coverage guy. His coverage is OK, but his best stuff is setting the edge and containing the outside run. But has some instincts and is OK as a off the line LB who can do some shed and flow.
If you look around at his games, he tackled better early in the year, and the whole Houston D got worse and worse as the season went on. They just may not give it much work in practice.
He should be a good replacement for Emmanuel. His best work is being physical setting the edge and playing contain. He blows up or turns back most of the wide runs at him. He needs work on his shed technique, but there are times his hands are like a boxer, and he just smashes the blockers back (big positive) with a heavy punch to the chest. Great speed to power move as a pass rusher. Good but not great instincts, although some of it may be that he seems very disciplined and just not willing to give up his primary assignment even when the play goes elsewhere. Is misplaced in the Houston D, where they ask him to play in space and make plays with speed when his obvious best skills are taking on blocks and being physical. He is a good, not great athlete and he is exposed some in space.
He should be a good replacement for Emmanuel. SHould be able to play both ILB spots as well as OTTO, which is his more natural position. Not a fluid guy in space, but good enough. At his best being physical and using his hand punch to defeat blocks and throw blockers around. Has only one move as a pass rusher, but it is a really good speed to power that knocks blockers back into the QB.
